These images are powerful and the reporting is great. The situation is still horrible. I have 5 science pubs on this over the last 10 years or so and the change doesn't seem to be coming. The people are still there. We have to just keep working. @LCJandA, @alianzacv

I keep encountering well-meaning writers researching arid regions from the paradigm of "everyone thinks this is a wasteland and we need to affirm that it's not"—babe this is no longer a counternarrative! Ppl are obsessed w deserts and that has created its own new set of issues!!
