@EssexPR @JOHjohJOH12 @UKGovTweets Hospitality have been by far the best supported sector. There are far more in greater peril and who have not had anything like the support the hospitality industry have had, nor the ability to bounce back when restrictions allow that the hospitality industry has.

@EssexPR I’m furious that our pub which we’ve owned for 25 years is going down the pan, I’m furious that the first time in 20 odd years we are in debt and I’m furious that we can’t earn a living and live a normal life because of something you MIGHT catch 😡

I wish people would stop equating furlough as financial support for hospitality it’s not, it’s actually a cost. Oh yeah the grant; equivalent of half a Saturdays days takings. VAT cut, we saved a bunch on all takings we didn’t take whilst not trading. 🙄@AlexReilley1 @EssexPR

The hospitality ‘roadmap’ must include a date by which ALL restrictions are lifted & we return to a pre-pandemic normal way of operating. We all desperately want to reopen but we also can’t lose sight that a proportion of gov advisors, who are anti-alcohol & anti-socialising,...

...see a unique opportunity to reengineer how hospitality functions in the future. If we don’t fight this there’s a real danger that some restrictions will stick & in years to come we’ll be reminiscing about the days when you used to be able to stand at a bar & have a few pints.

Just been reviewing our Nov figures - we made a £50k loss, that's twice as bad as the worst month in spring lockdown. This, despite the fact that we had some grant support in Nov but none in spring. Why? Because now we have to pay all staff's pension and Nat Ins & because... 1/2

botswana, which had 0 new cases today is on the 'red list', meaning if you come from there and don't quarantine in a hotel (costing £2k) you can get 10 years in jail BUT the US, which has had 96,460 new cases today is....not. Looks like it's not really about covid, is it.

💉 Vaccinating the top 9 vulnerability groups will reduce Covid deaths by 99% & Covid hospitalisations by about 80% - even offering protection from variants. 🔐 After we have protected all those vulnerable people, what arguments remain to keep any legal restrictions in place?👇
