A real thief snatched a woman’s handbag and escaped on a boda boda. Sydney who was simply in the area was wrongly accused. Without any proof, without listening to his desperate pleas of innocence, boda boda riders and a frenzied mob descended on him. As the doctor narrated: 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 “thief!” Clubs, stones, kicks, and stabs rained on him mercilessly. He was overpowered, brutally assaulted, and left fighting for his life. Rushed to Mulago Hospital, he breathed his last later that evening. This was not justice. This was pure murder by mob. An innocent, talented athlete lost his life because reckless vigilantism replaced reason. No investigation. No evidence. Just rage and assumption. Sydney was a disciplined forward, a loving father, and a beloved teammate. His death has left his young child fatherless and his family shattered. The rugby community is mourning deeply, with matches postponed and his jersey retired in his honour. Three suspects are already in custody, but we demand full accountability for every single person who participated in this lynching. Let this be the last time. Say NO to mob justice.
