Orcs have always been evil, fit only to receive the point of a sword.

Make Orcs Evil Again
English

@MapEffects A what? No. I just don't try to force religion into fantasy fiction. Not everyone has to obey your ideology. There's room for all kinds of interpretations of a fictional race.
English

@Rykoth1 Ah, I’m debating a materialist. It’s rare to find a real one out in the wild these days.
English

@BaschRonsen @orange_capybara Not really. I would have rather than not explain Krem, or Taash the way they did as if the player character or the world is ignorant. Unless you're trying to just repeat historical kingdoms there's no reason lgbtq+ groups can't just be accepted in a fantasy setting.
English

@Rykoth1 @orange_capybara This is an example of personal bias.
English

@Rykoth1 Demons are real though and orcs are based on them.
English

@orange_capybara Veilguard started so strong. I do agree the writing as a whole suffered. But when it comes to lgbtq+ even back at inquisition it felt like "let's break immersion and teach about _____"
English

@Rykoth1 i think it's the flaw of the veilguard writing in general. it's not specific to lgbt+ representation; most of the themes are presented really directly to gamers
but people are offended only by "wokeness", although the whole game is down to "we should be good"
English

@MapEffects Orcs aren't real. Erego. Not evil. Not good. At the direction of the writer. Jfc.
English

@MapEffects That doesn't change my view. Stop trying to force creativity. If you want evil orcs, make them. Some of us like savage yet heroic orcs. It's called live and let live. Gatekeeping is gross.
English

@MapEffects Orcs aren't demons in most settings they are in. Fantasy is not absolutist. It shouldn't be. That's why it's called... CREATIVITY.
English

@MapEffects Or maybe the idea of say a race that was once - not peaceful but not hostile - being corrupted and then freeing themselves is an awesome story. That's why warcraft orcs rule.
English

@Rykoth1 Because orcs are inherently based on being demonic beings. Making them just another race is normalizing and sanitizing evil. It’s a fruit you see throughout our society.
English

@MapEffects Orcs are fictional. They can be whatever the person writing them wants to be.
English

@MapEffects I still prefer full nuance. I'll take Thrall or Grommash over a Tolkien or AD&D pig man any day.
But here's my question. Why can't there be options? Warhammer Orcs and Orks are awesome. Both can exist not one or the other.
English

@Rykoth1 Ah, but what you’re essentially arguing is you can have a good or nuanced demon.
English

@MapEffects I don't care what the original meaning was. Tolkien orcs were also interchangeable with goblins. And were tragic. Nuance is better than narrow minded definitions.
English

@MapEffects I'd rather orcs have nuance. They're infinitely better that way.

It is imperative for Christians to embrace and gatekeep fictional stories whose messages aligns with the teachings of the Christian faith.
Too often, particularly in non-denominational and Evangelical circles, does the average person shun all kinds of stories because of the bullshit narrative that the stories are "demonic".
This type of puritanical nonsense has been a blight on the faith for a long time, and it needs to stop.
And yes, I have indeed heard retarded people call the works of Tolkien and Lewis "demonic".

@Der_Kernel_ ... the Empire, begrudgingly. Begrudgingly, because if they had intervened and prevented the sacking of Orsinium, a legion of Orsimer would have decimated the Altmer hosts. But, it WAS the empire who welcomed the Orsimer into the legions.

Me pasé muchísimos años de mi vida jugando a World of Warcraft.
