First-gen LLMs were basically simple chatbots — you send a message, it replies directly (with some moderation in between at best). Second-gen Agentic Workflows complicate that middle layer into a full process. When you ask a question, the AI first checks if it's detailed enough, whether it can be broken into sub-problems, and how to handle it. These workflows vary by knowledge domain. Does this mean compute and models are what truly matter? What about data?
