And just like that — three incredible days come to a close. 🌍 The South African Embassy in Brussels, through the Representation of the Science and Technology Attaché, Ms Eudy Mabuza, together with AERAP, hosted the 13th Africa–Europe Science Collaboration Forum. The three-day forum brought together voices from DG INTPA (European Commission), the National Research Foundation of South Africa, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Flemish Interuniversity Council (VLIR-UOS), the Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities, and the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP) — a powerful reminder that cross-continental talent investment is not a nice-to-have. It is the infrastructure of our shared future. Across three packed days, sessions covered the full breadth of Africa–Europe cooperation: Day 1 opened with a keynote by Prof Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the United Nations University, before diving into sessions on Advancing Shared Research Capacity for Science — exploring AI, quantum computing, and research infrastructures — followed by Science and Research Data, which examined the newly agreed AU-EU cooperation framework on Artificial Intelligence in Science. The afternoon was dedicated to Strengthening Africa–Europe Health Research, a deep-dive into building resilient and equitable health innovation ecosystems, co-moderated by AERAP and the South African Medical Research Council. Day 2 ran parallel sessions across two venues. At Science Europe, an invitation-only strategic session explored models and instruments for sustained Africa–Europe science cooperation. At the South African Embassy, sessions tackled Food Security — investing in innovation for resilient food futures — followed by Capital Markets for Science and Technology for Africa, repositioning STI investment as a cornerstone of development finance. The afternoon brought Science for the Global Gateway, aligning Africa–Europe cooperation with global priorities, and closed with a focused session on Critical Materials — examining how science and innovation can shift the Africa–Europe partnership from extraction toward value-added, sustainable industrial development. The evening ended with a networking reception co-hosted by the South African Embassy and DAAD. Day 3 opened with a session on Talent Mobility for Africa, spotlighting the South Africa Presidential PhD Initiative, EU Youth Mobility, and the Africa–Europe Clusters of Research Excellence (CoRE). The Science Diplomacy session went even deeper. Alongside colleagues from DG Research (European Commission), DSTI South Africa, DAAD Germany, IRD France, FONSTI Ivory Coast, the United Nations University, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Belgium, and the Africa Europe Foundation, discussions explored how Africa can leverage STI to shape foreign policy, strengthen global governance, and identify pathways for deepening science diplomacy and partnership between Africa and Europe. The sessions also built real momentum towards the inaugural Africa Science Diplomacy Conference in Pretoria. The afternoon concluded with sessions on the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and Health for the Global Gateway — co-organised with the Global Health Connector — before a closing networking reception hosted by the South African Embassy. Watch that space. 👀 The work continues. 💪🏽 #Sciencediplomacy#TalentMobility#AfricaEurope#AERAP2026#STI#GlobalGateway#SouthAfrica

Yes, that was 20 years ago where you took me on such a beautiful tour. The Kirstenbosch part and your forensic knowledge of every plant were impressive. I marvelled at your brain and tenderness, your commitment to the rainbow nation where we all have a place under the sun. You told me how you missed an opportunity to meet Mandela when Tony Leon, your former boss, had a meeting with him. And then I watched you morph into something unpalatable. Your transition, which you have acknowledged publicly, has been a tragicomedy. I saw how you tried to ingratiate yourself with Obama. It didn't work. At some point, you then realised that Zionist supremacy, populism and hate would get you ahead and pay your bills faster than a place of shared humanity, compassion, and TRUTH. Lies are your fuel, and I now, former ACQUINTANCE, find you repulsive. I recoil at your unabashed lies. As for that event, I never confirmed and didn't send any bio or pics. I didn't even know you would be a speaker. But LET ME BE VERY CLEAR. I'd have logged off the moment I saw you. Why? I hate your lies and vindictive politics. I'd never dignify them with my presence. Finally, I speak to Heads of State, Cabinet Ministers, Heads of Multinationals, AND Ambassadors. REAL Ambassadors. I curate and moderate serious global convenings. Why would I reward their regard for me by indulging a charlatan whose positions change depending on who can reward him the most? Why would I step down from such august networks and indulge an "AMPER Ambassador?" As for "you trash Israel..." Israel trashes itself. You have spent months trying to get my attention. I've indulged you now. This should last you until the next (3rd cycle) of "touted to be the next Ambassador." You may stay on my timeline. I have things to do.

You attack me but won't @ me @RediThlabi; poor form. The headline says "South Africa." So what? I remember showing you around Cape Town. We were friends. Now you live in New York and trash Israel. You were supposed to be on a panel with me in October but you ran away. Rather sad!

The world order is wavering: authoritarian forces are gaining influence, and systems of international cooperation are under pressure. Instead of uncertainty and a retreat into nationalism, the EU must play an active role in shaping sustainable partnerships with the Global South. socialistsanddemocrats.eu/newsroom/sds-w…

[WATCH] Afrikaner Leadership Network's Theuns Eloff says US President Donald Trump may believe things he has been told about white genocide in South Africa, but the information doesn't come from Afrikaners. He says there was no white genocide or large-scale expropriation of land in the country. #Newzroom405
