An Argentine influencer who denounces criminals was threatened and beaten while being filmed; he was shot at point-blank range. The constitutional reforms have not yet arrived.

@ChrisMartzWX I live in South America. In Buenos Aires, there are two airports. You never see any trails. The sky is always clear with natural-looking clouds. Same here in Asuncion. No trails and the airport is close. Portland, Oregon, and the sky is littered with lines. Why the difference?

Paraguay 🇵🇾 myths vs reality after living here for over a year. Both the good and the bad The good stuff people undersell: - It's CALM. Like actually calm. Not "oh it's quieter than New York" calm. Genuinely peaceful; I can hear birds chirping outside my window - The expat community is way more active than I expected. There are enough people here now that there's always something happening. Dinners, events, meetups... I've only ever experienced something like this in Chiang Mai and Bali - Entertainment options keep popping up. New restaurants, new spots, new things to do... It's still a small city but it's growing fast The annoying stuff nobody warns you about: - When it rains, the city stops. Roads flood, so plans get canceled. You learn to always have a backup - Holidays mean EVERYTHING closes. And I mean everything. You better have planned ahead - Travel logistics are legitimately a hassle. I'm lucky because I mostly fly to Madrid or other parts of South America where there are direct flights. But if you need to go anywhere else? Good luck Look, it's not the tax paradise utopia some people sell it as... But it's not the third-world nightmare others claim it is It's just a small city with trade-offs like anywhere else But if those trade-offs work for you? It works really well

@nowshattered @washghost1 People always think the car goes back to the dealership. It doesn't. It goes to the bank who financed the loan. Then they send it to the auction. The dealership will never see that car again, unless it is a first payment default and then maybe.

@AnnaDsays I can totally understand why you are angry. You are old and getting close to 50. So you know that your days are over and your looks are diminishing. All you will have to keep you company are five cats. I understand and sympathize for you.

Shut the fuck up, you fucking idiot. I grew up in Titusville, Florida. Our classes went outside for every launch. I watched it. I heard it. I felt it. Everyone in my area felt it in one way or another. Fuck you for dismissing that. Still one of the worst days my life.

99.9% of people who "experienced" the Challenger disaster saw it on replay and now remember it as live. Almost NO ONE was watching. Everyone thinks they were. It's a fascinating collective false memory.

Only Colombia 🇨🇴 would have a primo coffee aisle like this (Exito supermarket). I remember when there were few speciality options. Now over half the selections are speciality. Whats your favorite store bought cafe? Mine is ‘Amor Perfecto’ - Huila & Pergamino Inza.

If you went to elementary school in the 80s, you are too traumatized to watch hyped-up rocket launches. I know I am.

The best cities in Latin America for cost of living, according to Numbeo's 2025 index 🇵🇾 Asunción, Paraguay 🇧🇴 Santa Cruz, Bolivia 🇳🇮 Managua, Nicaragua 🇪🇨 Quito, Ecuador 🇭🇳 Tegucigalpa, Honduras 🇧🇴 Cochabamba, Bolivia 🇪🇨 Guayaquil, Ecuador 🇵🇪 Lima, Peru 🇨🇴 Medellín, Colombia 🇦🇷 Buenos Aires, Argentina People focus on the top 3 and assume it means dangerous or boring They're wrong on both counts. They're just cheap AND livable, which is a combination most of the world can't offer
