In her remarks, AG Tsakani Maluleke stated that the communiqué sets out practical recommendations ranging from strengthening infrastructure audits and promoting financial transparency to addressing skills gaps through evidence-based assessments and future-focused training.

The communique is an outcome of collaboration and shared commitment among Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of G20 nations. The communiqué was adopted at the SAI20 Summit hosted by AGSA in June 2025 and will soon be presented to heads of state G20 Summit in Johannesburg.

Throwback to Day 1 of the SAI20 Summit! Two weeks ago, @AuditorGen_SA successfully hosted the international delegates for the SAI20 Summit. Day 1 kicked off with a warm South African welcome from the Auditor-General, Tsakani Maluleke, and the Premier of Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi.

AG Tsakani Maluleke closed the SAI20 Summit on a high note, marking a successful gathering of G20 Auditors-General. The summit yielded insightful discussions on how supreme audit institutions can drive good governance and become strategic enablers of national development.

Citing the spirit of Ubuntu, he reminded us that “none of us will ever thrive alone,” and called for unity, shared knowledge, and collective action to reduce inequality and strengthen our institutions for the future.

He emphasized that SAIs must act not only as watchdogs of public accountability, but as builders of confidence, helping create stable and transparent environments that attract private investment and support long-term public policies.
