#sapsLIM The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the Police in Jane Furse for their swift and decisive response following information about suspects who were terrorising communities in the area. During a confrontation with police, one suspect was shot and later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were linked to a murder case and multiple incidents in which community members were robbed of their belongings and assaulted with sharp objects. #sapsMP Embalenhle SAPS continues to strengthen its partnership with the community through proactive crime prevention initiatives. As part of these efforts, SAPS members participated in a community radio awareness programme aimed at educating residents on prevalent crimes and promoting safer practices. During the radio slot, various critical issues affecting the community were addressed. These included sexual offences, particularly those linked to social interactions in liquor outlets, fraud conducted through social media platforms, incidents of mob justice, shoplifting, and compliance by liquor traders with their licensing conditions. Liquor traders were reminded to adhere strictly to their license conditions, including operating within permitted hours and promoting responsible alcohol consumption. The community was also encouraged to drink responsibly, as alcohol abuse remains a contributing factor to crimes such as assault and gender-based violence. In addressing shoplifting, SAPS discouraged such behaviour and emphasized its impact, Residents were reminded that criminal activities, including shoplifting, result in a criminal record, which can negatively affect future employment opportunities. Throughout the programme, SAPS emphasized the importance of community involvement in crime prevention. Residents were encouraged to report criminal activities promptly and to cooperate with police in ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice. NP

#sapsEC Motherwell SAPS Social Crime Prevention Unit, together with key community stakeholders, conducted a successful door-to-door awareness campaign on Gender-Based Violence and femicide (GBVF), rape, and domestic violence in Sector 5, Shukushukuma Informal Settlement on 17 March 2026. The initiative, led by WO Viviers alongside SAPS members, Community Policing Forum (CPF), Youth Crime Prevention Desk (YCPD), and sector patrollers, aimed to educate residents on the serious impact of GBV-related crimes and encourage the reporting of such incidents. During the campaign, community members were engaged directly at their homes and educated on various forms of abuse, including physical, emotional, sexual, and economic violence. Residents were also informed about their rights, the importance of reporting rape cases immediately, and the protection available under the Domestic Violence Act. The team further emphasized personal safety measures, warning against the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption and the risks associated with walking alone at night, particularly while intoxicated. Community members were encouraged to remain vigilant, support one another, and report suspicious activities. A total of 200 crime prevention pamphlets were distributed during the operation, providing vital information on GBVF, rape awareness, and available support services. The campaign was well received, with residents showing strong interest and appreciation for the initiative. The engagement not only raised awareness but also strengthened the partnership between SAPS and the community in the ongoing fight against crime. NP

#sapsNW On Wednesday, 18 March 2026 at 10:00 AM, SAPS Pudimoe and the Pudimoe Community Policing Forum, together with various stakeholders, hosted a GBVF awareness campaign at Vuselela TVET College, attended by 215 community members. The campaign aimed to educate the community on the roles of different stakeholders in combating gender-based violence and femicide, encouraging cooperation between service providers and residents. Stakeholders included SAPS, Social Development, the NPA, Health, Thuthuzela Care Centre, victim empowerment centres, Community Safety, the Tribal Office, Justice, CPF structures, and the Taung LGBTIQ+ organisation. The event reached diverse groups such as women, men, youth, older persons, students, the LGBTIQ+ community, and residents from surrounding areas. Through presentations and discussions, stakeholders highlighted the importance of reporting GBV cases, effective investigations and prosecutions, and the availability of support services like counseling and shelters. The campaign successfully promoted awareness, strengthened collaboration, and encouraged community involvement in preventing GBVF, ending with a call for ongoing partnership to ensure a safer community. #sapsFS The Kroonstad Social Crime Prevention Unit conducted an awareness campaign at Johan Slabbert High School and North High School, in collaboration with the Department of Education, a Parolee representative, ENCO Organisation,Traffic, the Community Policing Forum (CPF), the Youth Desk, Matete Matches, and the Department of Social Development. The campaign focused on addressing gangsterism, substance abuse, and general learner behaviour, while promoting positive behavioural choices through active participation in constructive activities, engagement with positive role models, strengthened reporting mechanisms, and the development of peer support structures. Particular emphasis was placed on educating male learners about the consequences of engaging in criminal activities and how poor decision-making may negatively impact future opportunities and life outcomes. The campaign reached a total of 471 male learners across both schools. Learners actively participated in discussions and activities designed to encourage responsible decision-making and reinforce awareness of lawful and positive behaviour. The interactive sessions allowed learners to understand the importance of making informed choices and seeking guidance through available reporting and support mechanisms. #CrimeAwareness NP

#sapsNW On 18 March 2026, a School Safety Awareness intervention was successfully conducted at Matlaisane Secondary School in Dertig, under the Bojanala Sub-District 1, Makapanstad SAPS policing area. The initiative was led by the Department of COSATMA, which organised a visit to the school and invited relevant stakeholders to engage with learners. The purpose of the programme was to guide and educate learners on the importance of refraining from crime and to encourage them to seek help when faced with challenges. The stakeholders present included SAPS, CIBs/CPFs, the Department of Health, Fire and Emergency Services, the Department of Education, Moretele Local Municipality (MLM), and the School Governing Body (SGB). All stakeholders delivered presentations aimed at sensitising learners about the dangers of engaging in criminal activities, as well as the harmful effects of alcohol abuse, substance use, and other illegal behaviours. Fire and Emergency Services further educated learners on the risks associated with playing with fire and the unsafe use of electrical equipment. Learners were advised to always follow safety precautions and to seek supervision from responsible adults. During the engagement, learners were encouraged to take their studies seriously and to make wise decisions that will help them achieve their future goals. It was also highlighted that dangerous weapons and empty alcohol containers had been found in classrooms, and learners were cautioned about the serious risks and consequences of bringing such items onto school premises. The awareness campaign was well received, and the school management expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that it provided valuable guidance to learners in making positive life choices for their future. #SaferSchools NP

#sapsHAWKS A 59-year-old suspect is expected to appear before Standerton Magistrates Court next month, 14 April 2026. This comes after he was served with court summons on Thursday, 19 March 2026. A preliminary probe by the South African Revenue Service (SARS) uncovered the suspect’s alleged tax evasion, where he failed to submit outstanding personal income tax. #sapsKZN Human Rights Month is a dedicated period to reflect on the country's journey toward equality, justice, and human dignity. Station Commander of Wentworth SAPS Colonel Mtshali, together with the station management and external stakeholders celebrated this month with elderly people in an effort to restore faith, hope and dignity to the elderly people of the community they serve. Colonel Mtshali addressed the pensioners at the Imbizo. In her speech she ensured the community of Wentworth that the Police care about the well-being of the community and that policing is not limited to arrests and the other police duties. She further stated that as police it it their duty to conduct social crime prevention duties. The community was afforded an opportunity to engage in an interactive session with the community.
