#sapsWC [POLICE CONFISCATE 16 BAGS OF DRUGS AND A FIREARM IN SEPARATE INCIDENTS] On 24/05, at around 20:00, Delft #SAPS members apprehended an 18-year-old male suspect for possession of drugs after he was found with eight bags of tik and eight bags of cocaine in his house in Bloemendaal Street. He was arrested and detained at Delft SAPS for possession of drugs and is due to appear at the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on, 26/05. In a separate incident, members of #OperationProsper followed up on information received about a firearm kept at a certain residence located in Wesbank. This information led to the arrest of a 20-year-old male suspect in Monchello Street, Wesbank, for possession of a prohibited firearm at around 11:50 on, 25/05. #sapsFS [HELP ALLANRIDGE POLICE LOCATE MISSING TEENAGER] Police in Allanridge are seeking assistance from the public to find Sechaba Moletsane (16), after he was reported #missing. It is alleged that Sechaba was last seen on Saturday, 23/05, at approximately 11:30. This was after he left home in Nyakallong allegedly to go visit his friends. The missing person was last seen wearing dark blue school shorts, a dark blue t-shirt and blue sandals. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Sechaba Moletsane is urged to come forward. #sapsFS [SHUTDOWN INTERVIEW CONDUCTED IN FRONT OF SONSKYN POLICE STATION WHERE THE ACTUAL LOOTING STARTED] The District Commissioner, Maj. Gen. Adams, conducted interviews with both Phuthuloha TV and the SABC News TV crew. The purpose was to highlight the number of arrests, which has now risen to more than 166 since last night, and to discourage the community at large from taking part in acts of vigilantism and looting. During his interview, the General also mentioned injuries sustained by police members whose vehicle was pelted with stones. #sapsHQ [SAPS MOURNS PASSING OF SERGEANT MANDLA KHUZWAYO] #SAPS mourns the passing of Sergeant Mandla Khuzwayo, who succumbed to gunshot wounds after an ambush in Durban on 30/04. He and Captain Louis Nel were travelling in an unmarked state vehicle when they came under attack in a hail of bullets by unknown assailants. Captain Nel died at the scene, while Sergeant Khuzwayo had been fighting for his life in hospital until his passing. Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane has strongly condemned the killing of police officers and reiterated SAPS commitment to bring perpetrators to justice. #sapsFS [FREE STATE POLICE ARREST 142 FOLLOWING SPORADIC LOOTING AND PUBLIC VIOLENCE IN MANGAUNG] #SAPS POP Unit members has restored relative calm to several Mangaung sections following sporadic incidents of public violence, looting, and malicious damage to property. The criminal activities were triggered by voice recordings and digital posters circulating on social media platforms, which called for a "total shutdown." ​Opportunistic groups utilized these digital messages to target local businesses and tuckshops. In response, SAPS opened multiple cases, including Public Violence, Business Burglary, Business Robbery, Possession of Suspected Stolen Goods, and Malicious Damage to Property. ​ ​To date, a total of 142 suspects have been apprehended. The breakdown of arrests is as follows 109 are males and 33 are females. ​The SAPS condemns these acts of lawlessness and warns the public against lawbreaking or instigating violence through digital platforms. #sapsHAWKS [NORTHERN CAPE: STATE GRANTED FORFEITURE ORDER WORTH R49 500] Kimberley Division of the High Court granted the #Hawks Priority Crime Specialised Investigation and NPA's Asset Forfeiture Unit a forfeiture order amounting to R49 500 against Sephano Thumeng (36). During April 2025, members of Port Nolloth SAPS received information about possible uncut diamonds that was kept at house in Lyfram. A search and seizure application was granted by the court, and an operation was conducted at the address during which a red plastic bag containing money and uncut diamonds were recovered. Thumeng failed to produce a permit or reason for possession of the uncut diamonds. He was immediately arrested and the exhibits were taken for further probing. The matter was referred to PCSI for investigation and later to AFU. Investigation established that the accused was not working and that he also has no permit to deal in diamonds. Through diligent investigation and collaboration, the team secured a successful conviction. Kobedi was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape. #sapsNW [CONTINUATION OF UNANNOUNCED OPERATION SHANELA II IN DR KENNETH KAUNDA DISTRICT] The coordinated, intell driven #OperationShanela II continued in Orkney, Klerksdorp, Jouberton and Alabama on Saturday, 23/05, targeting high-density illicit drug hotspots, illegal firearms, undocumented immigrants and illegal trade. Compliance inspections were also conducted at second-hand goods premises and liquor outlets. Through crime intelligence information received, the team arrested two male suspects in Klerksdorp for possession of suspected illegal drugs. The first suspect, aged 41, was found in possession of a substance believed to be crystal meth with an estimated street value of R2 000.00 and a firearm with a magazine was also confiscated. He was additionally charged for the illegal possession of a firearm. A second suspect, aged 26, was arrested for possession of suspected illegal substances, namely crystal meth and khat, with an estimated street value of R500.00. Furthermore, two fines were issued for selling liquor without a license in Orkney.
