Feminized seeds aren't natural. They’re the result of forcing a female plant to impregnate itself or another female plant O_o, and the real chemistry is pretty complex. Under normal conditions, cannabis throws male and female plants at a 50/50 ratio (XX for female, XY for male). To get feminized seeds, breeders have to chemically stress a female plant into growing male pollen sacs O_O usually using colloidal silver or silver thiosulfate. I had to look up how to pronounce that word :O Here is exactly how that works: Silver ions block the plant's ethylene receptors. Ethylene is the hormone that drives female flower development. When you block it, the plant’s sex expression shifts male, even though the tissue is genetically female. Because it's a female plant, the pollen it drops only has X chromosomes. No Y chromosomes exist. When that XX pollen hits another female plant's XX ovules, every resulting seed is XX. That 99.9% feminization rate you see on seed packs? It's just the mathematical reality of crossing two XX parents. "But what about the ones that hermie?" Well those aren't failures of the feminization process. They’re plants with a genetic predisposition to hermaphroditism that finally expressed it under stress. That trait was present in the parent genetics before the silver ever touched the plant. when your feminized seeds hermie, the silver didn't do it. The breeder just selected unstable parents, and charged you 💸 anyway. :D Keep on Growing O_O
