Savannah Trash Warriors 👊

Happy Earth Day from the Trash Warriors of Savannah! 🌎 Since August of 2018, our volunteers have put in 292 hours to clean up 497 buckets and trash and 340 buckets of recycling from Savannah's streets and drainage ditches.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers that came out to help this morning at our 1 Year Anniversary Cleanup on MLK! 🥰 We had 14 volunteers clean up for 1 hour and clear 20 buckets of trash and 12 buckets of recycling from MLK, along with hundreds of cigarette butts!

This morning I joined @SAVtrashwarrior in a clean up of MLK Drive. This group aims to unite the citizens of Savannah on litter and waste issues in order to come together and make a lasting impact. I am so thankful I could join them on their 1 year anniversary clean up!

Wow, what a cleanup today! 🌎👊 Our 11 trash warriors (and one trash warrior pup!) cleaned for 1.5 hours this morning and picked up 120 buckets of trash and 40 buckets of recycling on ONE STREET (Victory Manor where it turns into Elm Ct. at Holly Ave).

Before and after from our cleanup today! 👊 Our volunteers are the toughest trash warriors in all the land. Climbing around in bushes and trees to pull out all of the garbage and make our communities better places to live, for everyone. We love you guys!

Hey y'all. Know how we've been talking a lot about storm drains recently? Well looky what we found today... 😔 This storm drain is at the corner of Montgomery and W 39th Street. How did all this trash end up in there?

Stay tuned for the Adopt-A-Drain app that @opensavannah is working on. Come to our next meeting on July 31st to get involved and help us brainstorm. We need ya!

It could be that the trash was in the street and got swept down there during a storm. Could be the street sweepers pushing it down there. Could also be that some people think that storm drains are trash cans and that they go to a waste water treatment plant a (which they don't).

While that might not sound like a lot, that's because the majority of what we picked up today was small objects like bottle caps and cellophane wrappers — and at least 300 cigarette butts! 🚭

Great cleanup today at Wells Park! 🌎👊 We had 4 trash warriors cleaning up for 1.5 hours and picked up 25 buckets of trash and 5 buckets of recycling.

(Oh, and that's just the trash we've picked up! We've also picked up 472 buckets of recycling...)
