@LaureenBertin Yes, the City of Johannesburg is in dire need of fixing, it simply was destroyed. The city is filthy, roads are broken, water infrastructure is disrupted and its critically unsafe. Not to mention the service charges surging!!!

If Honesty was not Questioned here, and the #SouthAfrica was a First World functional, economically stable country, this would not have been accepted. Government assets would have transported their people in safe convoys, yet this "show-off" is nothing but a disgrace for criminal behaviour. Is #SARS turning a blind eye here too? Or are these vehicles directly imported from the UAE as gifts? #CORRUPTION #zondoreport

@SA_LandDivided @Nicole_Barlow1 @Our_DA @jsteenhuisen Voting for better government is the only way to change things in a democracy, other than insurrection. SAns chose the ANC yet again in 2024 with 40% so they got what they wanted. If people want different they must proactively choose it in 2026. I really have no sympathy any more

Open letter to John Steenhuisen (Leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Minister of Agriculture in South Africa): @Our_DA Dear John @jsteenhuisen For me, not only as a South African citizen but also as a local commercial farmer, I'm highly disappointed in you! Not only did you have a once in a lifetime opportunity to expose this criminal ANC regime to the world during your recent meeting with Donald Trump but, you brilliantly performed the window dressing role that Ramaphosa dragged you along for! I'm unsure if you feel proud about this? Essentially, you sugar-coated an absolute nightmare and calamitous situation. Yes, you are now on the gravy train, it seems? Living from the fat of the land...and enjoying the life of a celebrity Cabinet Minister!? When did we as citizens become so weak, complacent, and spineless to afford you as career politicians such protected celebrity lifestyles while violent crime stalks us daily and many of us battle daily to buy even the most basic of foodstuffs?! I thought YOU were meant to be the "public servants," but seemingly, WE are the servants in this modern-day serfdom. You celebrity tax-guzzlers live in parliamentary villages - that we who are today sweating blood have to pay for! You have constant security details while us farmers are murdered and tortured sometimes in the most horrible ways. This, while elderly women are raped daily in former homeland regions! You are fat and flourishing, it seems? The highlife on the taxpayer account obviously pays handsomely! And you know John, when people wonder out aloud why the Democratic Alliance will never grow as a political party; I attempt to explain to them that this is because it's just become another haven for spineless career politicians! Pathetic, in fact. And yes, I'm certainly ranting and very angry, so you don't need to remind me of this. Instead of driving global campaigns to bring this crime syndicate parading as a government to its knees; you are part of keeping them in place - the DA has, in my opinion, become complicit. And spare me the nonsense that this GNU was necessary to avoid a "Doomsday Coalition" - doomsday is, in fact, unfolding now before our very eyes! Your involvement in governance has done nothing whatsoever to change this suicidal socio-political trajectory - you score though..we lose. Warm regards Shane Brody @SA_LandDivided

Communities are already funding rural & urban security themselves, with no backup, because SAPS fails whilst the ANC loots the budget. Another R126m down the drain for a licensing department that was not completed. The state must act now—reform SAPS and properly fund security for all citizens. Citizens pay Tax only to fund their own sustainability in communities on top, public services is a right for all citizens, but we clean up neighbourhoods and secure their homes. Outsurance have been directing our traffic for over 10 years. It's become a norm (which is not normal) to self sustain in urban areas. Just take a look at the City of Joburg. And our Heritage Buildings are no longer...it's just sad! No time to wait another year for voting...

@SA_LandDivided @Nicole_Barlow1 @Our_DA @jsteenhuisen Is your suggestion that the DA must fund rural and urban security if SAPS fails? If yes, which what money? Also LGE2026 is going to bring significant changes will have voted for - which is the only way to effect change in a democracy. In the meantime, work locally.

Frankly, the ad hominem attack detracts from the message here. John has disappointed in so many ways, much more pertinent to job we elected him to be. As L of O, he has moved the party, socialisticly, much more centre left toward the ANC, to the discomfort of his erstwhile support base. There is now, no longer a "clear blue sky" difference between the ANC and DA, a slogan effectively used at the start of his leadership! He has lost all credibility as an 'opposition' leader by being Ramaphosa's trophy "White Minister of Agriculture" in the Oval Office, and silenced by a warning look, as Ramaphosa handed him the floor! Even more damning, is that the passing of the most heinous ANC race laws, boldly took place under his DA leadership! Now, in the face of the LGEs, he spits the fiery rhetoric of the changes the DA will make. Sorry John, but if these changes are possible, you should have done them by now.

@Newzroom405 R10million would have been enough to finish it! Build it, tar it and furnish it and recruit people. Where did the rest of the money go? The ANC could have done more with this money. Shame on looting tax payers money!!! #tenderpreneurs

The answer is simple @LaureenBertin - Intensify sanctions on corrupt officials, not citizens. Press criminal charges per Zondo Report. Stop propping up ANC internationally. Fund rural & urban security if SAPS fails. Push for minority equality. Is DA in GNU to govern or just sugarcoat ANC? There is no lazy thinking here - How many more "red lines in the sand" does the DA want to draw when the ANC bulldozes them in decisions that should rather be deliberated by GNU partners in an attempt to find consensus? Is the DA really a functional and impactful partner in the GNU or are they merely there to create a veneer of respectability and virtuosity for the ANC? - allowing the ANC to rebuild for the next elections and to continue accessing international loans that many of us fail to see any value in!?

@Nicole_Barlow1 @Our_DA @jsteenhuisen I asked for Practical Suggestions as to what YOU would change right now since you believe the DA is propping up the ANC. What and how? Also no "obviously" please - that is lazy thinking.

We are yet to see an actual ethical plan .... that has been implemented without reasonable doubt that the impact will be sustainable. It's no easy task, but results will speak when we see jobs created, infrastructure improved, housing solutions to the poor, funding not being misused and abused. This is where we start, with Ethical Governance @helenzille

Indeed. This is exactly what the DA should be doing. Working with determination towards implementing the policies that will turn our country into a prosperous democracy. DA launches attack on ANC’s economic policies while governing beside it in the GNU news24.com/citypress/poli…

OPEN LETTER TO "Mark DC" ..and all the other ANC apologists: - whoever you are, you chose to use every leftist script possible to vilify me after I asked our so-called opposition and public representatives to speak truth to corrupt power! To citizens: Essentially, from the ivory towers from which this largely nameless individual speaks (but it's a pro-ANC bot I suspect); he chose to play the man rather than the ball! - typical leftist ad hominem vitriol accompanied by all the usual playground stuff! - swear at someone and run away! Hide and seek...I'm way past this tomfoolery...my life, like many other South Africans who are increasingly struggling to feed their families; is now only about survival! Basically, @jsteenhuisen is a public representative - he should thus be open to questioning and he should be honour-bound to gracefully accept criticism when due. I reiterate, it seems to me that he is more than happy to be living from the fat of the land, rather than speaking-up for the fragile and marginalised!? You see, "Mark DC", you probably type your vitriol from the safety of a gated complex...like most weepy leftists do, void of reality and without consideration of the pain that an overwhelming majority of South Africans are living through at the hands of a brutal and corrupt regime. Mark, you suggest that I posted "unsubstantiated" things about John Steenhuizen - feel free to point these falsities out! - let South Africans and the world decide who is lying or spreading misinformation. You also attempted to portray me as a fool - I'm accustomed to this deflection tactic from those attempting to uphold the status quo - I'm by no means a weepy apologist and you have no clue of my history in respect of attempting to assist and empower historically disadvantaged and marginalised communities. You also have no clue of my education in respect of topic-specific matters. But yes, touch the establishment nerve, and the sycophants come crawling out! - unwavering and steadfast in their virtuosity.. to play the never-ending role of bleeding heart apologist! You see Mark, you evidently don't live at the coalface of South African brutality where I live...you're an armachair theorist-cum-keyboard warrior - full of insults and ad hominem..without understanding the pain that South Africans - both black and white - are today forced to live through..you don't care, because it seemingly doesn't affect you!? You probably haven't been bombed through the ceiling of a restaurant, been hijacked in a motor vehicle, and been embroiled in vicious "taxi wars", like I have...you haven't seen the poverty and hardship that defines former homeland dwellers who are today forgotten and marginlised and who only largely constitute voting reservoirs!? - but yes, the ever-intelligent weepy leftist seemingly knows all this!? You also don't know what it's like to have friends - both black and white - brutally murdered and tortured in farm attacks . You don't know the sickeningly sweet smell of blood at such scenes, the blood smears and splatters on the walls and floors, and the grotesquely deformed and butchered bodies that are left after these frenzied attacks - you also don't know the deep mental scars left in the survivors....yes, in many cases, young children who are seriously suicidal! - is this politically defensible? Do you know what it's like to live every day looking over your shoulder...waiting for you to be next? To braai with a gun on your hip? To have this metal albatross tied to you 24/7? Do you know of the levels of fear and panic that fills the innocent hearts of small children exposed to songs calling for their demise? Do you know this? Do you know of the communal black farmers woken in the dead of night by heavily armed gangs demanding that these poor people load all their livestock onto the trucks of the gangsters? There is an answer to all of this, its called "Ethical Decision Making"
