@caprisunburst @Currentreport1 No, that's the excuse they are using to save face. They couldn't take off because the Iranian police shot at their engines and damaged the turbine blades. If you shoot and break one of them, the rest can easily get damaged in-flight and can cause a crash.

NYT reports hundreds of special forces troops and dozens of US warplanes and helicopters were deployed to locate the downed F-15 crew member in Iran.
US aircraft struck Iranian convoys to keep them away from the area where the pilot was hiding.
2 US C-130 planes meant to extract the airmen got stuck in sand in Iran and were destroyed by US forces to avoid capture.
Iran's IRGC, however claims they were shot down by Iranian fire.

@Partisangirl Two A-10s crashed, third lost an engine but made it back to base. Iran hit a strato tanker that was there to fuel the other planes, little info that I've seen about it so far. Multiple helicopters were hit, some made it back with damage to the crew, some were shot down. Two CJs.
