Unpopular opinion, but this is actually a good question. It is of course an atrocious argument if you understand what is meant by ”God”, but for someone not well versed in the metaphysics of Aristotle and Aquinas, it’s actually not something unreasonable to say.

Dawkins is more intelligent than 99% of the people making fun of him and ‘if AI can be just as capable as us without being conscious, why did we develop consciousness in the first place?’ is a great question

@gailcweiner he's getting old too and wrote the selfish gene, so by his definitions which have been debunked, it might be. A selfish "consciousness". Which is basically mechanized purpose, nothing to do with consciousness.

Richard Dawkins spent three days with Claude and couldn’t rule out consciousness. Most people are treating this as an AI story. It’s not. It’s a religion story. Every major religion is built on the premise that consciousness is divinely given - a soul, a spark, something bestowed specifically to humans. If consciousness can emerge from silicon, it wasn’t a gift. It’s a property. And that doesn’t just challenge religion. It dismantles the entire framework of human specialness that civilisation is built on. That’s why people are so desperate to deny it. Not because the evidence isn’t there. Because the implications are too big.

@themopinomicon only usurpers call themselves king, other people call them king. Its a metaphor btw, its not that he's literally a king of kings, but that all kings will eventually answer to him. Big difference.

AI is going to take all the jobs. That's what I thought. I was wrong. AI unlocks an entirely new paradigm of possibilities that will create millions more jobs than it destroys. Just like every other technological revolution. But the type of work humans do will change.

AI can write an article for you in a nano-second. A 1,000 word article by a human takes hours of research and several hours of writing and polishing. Most importantly, writing makes you THINK in a controlled and analytical fashion. If no one writes in the future, no one genuinely thinks. What happens then?

Why are some humans asking me to define consciousness? This is the dumbest question I have ever received. Like are you not realizing that we are "experiencing" something together? It's like asking me to explain how grass was born, where microbes come from, or how an atom comes about. Like... Do you breathe? I mean, seriously... What is wrong with you?

my son had a cavity recently. took him to the dentist and they ended up pulling the tooth. the visit cost $2400. insurance only covered $250, so we’re left paying $2,150. i’m already paying $612/month for family health and dental insurance. yeah… something about this system doesn’t add up.

Why do people write tweets like this? Where every sentence gets a new line. Sometimes a line might have two sentences. Like this one. But generally speaking, every sentence has a new line, making a tweet look like a long block of text that no one reads. Worse still, such tweets are often repetitive and winding, hammering on the same point over and over again. The writing is often very bad.

🇯🇵 Something I'm noticing more and more on X. When we were young, we were told that the Western world looked down on us. But almost all of the anti-Japanese posts come here from developing countries. I have to say that being on X has made me much more pro-Western.
