In 2020, she joined the Laguna Beach Police Department as a captain, where she helped lead the city’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Johnson is also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1997–2001 as an air control electronics operator in Okinawa, Japan and San Diego.
