Shared the fabulous award winning book, We Are Water Protectors by @CaroleLindstrom and @MichaelaGoade with my third graders. We analyzed the illustrations, talked about the black snake metaphor and then went outside to observe nature

This week 5th grade will enjoy the award winning short film and book, Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore by @heybilljoyce to practice making inferences, predictions and connections

Read Tu Youyou’s Discovery: Finding a Cure for Malaria by Songju Ma Daemicke and Lin to 5th grade for #AAPIHeritageMonth

Read Maya Lin biography by @JeanneWHarvey @DowPhumiruk for #AAPIHeritageMonth. The next week I had my students create memorials with various materials.

How To Find What You’re Not Looking For by @VeeraHira was so good I bought three copies for the library and recommended it to my 6th and 7th LAL teachers for their historical fiction units

I shared the narrative nonfiction book The Case for Loving by @sean_qualls and Selina Alko for Valentine’s Day and #BlackHistoryMonth with my 5th graders.

My third graders enjoyed discussing Let The Children March by @MonicaClarkRob and @frankmorrison_ A great nonfiction story to share for #BlackHistoryMonth and to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.
