My JUCO coach would always say “On a slow roller, pump fake and backdoor the runner on third” He also drilled into us the 3 B’s of defense—Ball, Base, or Backup. You’re always doing one of them. Everybody moves on every play! Million IQ play!

The mantra is Learn*Grow*Evolve, and that is exactly what @mission3sixty is doing. Mission360 is creating a new training format to Fall Ball with IMPACT Baseball. The instructional league starts tomorrow with 1 practice 1 controlled game during the week. #baseball #catchers

Spent quite a bit of time watching college baseball this weekend. I will only watch a select few teams from here on out. Reason? They have coaches that respect the game and their opponents and demand the same of their players. Any team that doesn’t wear the uni correctly, taunts the other team, and has a coach that condones this behavior, is a disgrace to the game. Big fan of coach Schnall at Coastal Carolina! Him and his team represent what college baseball should be like. Well done, sir! U stand for proper behavior.

Most important skill set for infielders? Throwing! … Period. All else (hands/feet/range, etc) become irrelevant if you are not an elite thrower. This includes arm strength, BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANT IS ACCURACY. Problem is… less than 5% of all HS players are elite throwers. Likely 2%. This summer, I encourage infielders to put a serious emphasis on this part of their game. And make every throw of every drill with the importance of the last play of the state championship, college World Series, or the MLB World Series. Aim small… miss small mentality! Making throws under pressure. FOR THIS TO HAPPEN YOU HAVE TO THROW WITH FOCUS AND INTENT ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. challenge your arm to make the routine (repetable) throws as well as athletic throws … including all arm angles. Create a throwing progression and put it into action. If you are seeking a quality throwing routine, let me know and I’ll share where to find one. @nextlevelbb @CoachTaberM @JeffSchaefer2 @qualityatbats

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A GREAT TEAMMATE! Team sports are really difficult things. Sometimes your team wins because of you, sometimes in spite of you and sometimes its like you're not even there. That's the reality of the team game. Then at one point in my career, something wonderful happened. I don't know why or how ... but I came to understand what "team" meant. It meant that although I didn't get a hit or make a great defensive play, I could impact the team in an incredible and consistent way. I learned I could impact my team by caring first and foremost about the team's success and not my own. I don't mean by rooting for us like a typical fan. Fans are fickle. I mean CARE, really care about the team ... about "US." I became less selfish, less lazy, less sensitive to negative comments. When I gave up me, l became more. I became a captain, a leader, a better person and I came to understand that life is a team game. And you know what? I've found most people aren't team players. They don't realize that life is the only game in town. Someone should tell them. It has made all the difference in the world to me. Note - author unknown. If someone knows who wrote this, I would love to give them credit. It’s awesome!

Texas Rangers MLB Hitting Coach, Tim Hyers, discusses the High Tee Drill and how it helps hitters create a direct swing path needed to consistently handle velocity, with high spin, at the top of the zone. Great hitters know there is big risk involved in creating unnecessary length and depth on the backside of the swing. This is especially true when facing pitchers who throw with superior velocity at top of the zone. Take a listen.

@RyanLSack @Seth_3773 Actually, there was no context to it. Just a statement. And there can be several reasons for an average to be around .260 in HS. Let's stop breaking down players based on 1 stat that can be misinterpreted.
