Earlier this year, SCDOT completed repairs on the SC 101 bridge over the Enoree River, near the Laurens and Spartanburg County lines. The project repaired both the deck and underside of the bridge, resurfacing of the bridge approaches, and some of the bridge's steel components.

SCDOT appreciates the patience of residents in the area and encourages drivers to use caution as traffic patterns return to normal.

In just six months, SCDOT and its partners worked closely to accelerate the delivery of a stronger, safer bridge to support decades of future travel for the Pickens community.

SCDOT is proud to announce the successful replacement and reopening of the SC 133 bridge over Crowe Creek in Pickens County!

SCDOT recently completed the new South Hudson Street bridge over the Reedy River in Greenville. Damaged by Hurricane Helene, the replacement was accelerated and the new bridge is made of prestressed concrete, making it stronger than the previous structure.

SCDOT and its partners have recently completed rehabilitation work on the S-24-39 bridge over Lake Greenwood in Greenwood County. Crews wrapped 122 piles with fiberglass grout-filled sleeves to preserve and strengthen the steel and repaired bridge joints and the bridge deck.

✨SCDOT has completed 6.74 miles of paving on Wylies Mill Road in Chester County. The beautiful country road now features new paving for a smoother riding surface, rumble strips, and new striping. ✨ SCDOT continues to invest in safer, more reliable travel for our communities.

When our crews go to work with the ditching ball machine, it is used to shape, clear, and maintain drainage along the road. This prevents water runoff from flooding or damaging the road surface.

The original steel truss bridge on SC 45 over the Diversion Canal in Berkeley County was built in 1941 as part of the Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie hydroelectric project. Replaced in 2007, the new bridge spans 145 feet and carries nearly 4,000 vehicles per day.

Nearly a year into the Church Street Bridge renovation, crews have replaced bridge bearings and are building new sidewalk. Work will pause this month during the 2026 NCAA March Madness tournament. The bridge will fully close in May to complete final rehab work.

Conditions permitting, we anticipate the repair will be complete tomorrow and the section of road will be repaved by the end of the week. Drivers should expect delays at this intersection through the duration of work.

🚨 Update - Gervais and Assembly in Columbia, S.C. A pipe failure under the roadway at the intersection of Gervais Street and Assembly Street caused damage to the road. SCDOT crews are working around the clock to repair the pipe and the roadway.

If you must travel in this area over the next several hours, expect delays. City of Columbia and law enforcement are also responding to support the operation. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.

🚨 Traffic Alert: Columbia, S.C. SCDOT crews are on-site at the intersection of Assembly and Gervais in Columbia inspecting road damage that appears to be related to a collapsed pipe under the roadway. Some travel lanes are closed but traffic is moving through the area.

Crews recently completed a bridge deck pour for one of the spans on the new I-20 westbound bridge in Kershaw County. Once the smooth new bridge is complete in the Fall of 2027, Westbound traffic will be able to shift off the Eastbound bridge onto the new Westbound bridge.

SCDOT recently completed a series of roadway improvements along US 1 in Chesterfield County. The project features three new bridges, enhanced safety features, and a design that safeguards both drivers and the surrounding forest.

Rumble strips help keep you safe! On the white line, the noise and vibration alerts drivers who may be drifting toward the shoulder. On the center yellow line, they warn drivers before crossing over into oncoming traffic.
