68 years ago today (8 years to the day before the #MarchOnWashington and my father’s #IHaveADream speech), #EmmettTill was tortured and murdered in a brutal act of white supremacist terrorism. The horrific murder of Emmett Till further galvanized the Civil Rights Movement. #MLK

White supremacy still manifests structurally within institutions of higher education & in most spectrums of society. The Supreme Court is morally bankrupt & intellectually blinded by staunch opposition to Black equity & freedom, whether in the voting booth or higher education.

To strike Affirmative Action as unlawful is a racist act because it denies the continued presence of severe disparities negatively impacting Blacks in higher education and rejects the moral responsibility of institutions to be anti-racist.

Re: todays Supreme Court decision: Affirmative Action is a reparative and corrective measures to right historic and current day wrongs. Affirmative Action is not racism. Affirmative Action is a measure which has been effective in combatting systemic and structural racism.

Just when I think it can’t get any worse. The AG in Mo filed a embarrassing pretend brief to REVERSE a conviction. An unarmed black man was shot by a police officer, they staged the scene to plant a gun …he was convicted by judge(his request for judge trial). 🧵

That the Missouri governor is even thinking of subverting justice for the only Kansas City police officer ever found guilty of killing a Black man is shocking. kansascity.com/opinion/editor…

A pardon here would be outrageously unjust.

#BREAKING @jeanpetersbaker says numerous reports suggest Governor Mike Parson plans to pardon former Kansas City Detective Eric Devalkenaere. Devalkenaere is out on bond while waiting for his appeal. He was convicted of killing Cameron Lamb in 2019. @fox4kc

This is beyond outrageous. The defendant asked for a judge tried case. He was convicted (evidence included that a gun and bullet were planted on the victim by the police officer) The AG should do his job or resign. It is the law. What the hell?? 🧵 kansascity.com/opinion/editor…
