Great to spend this morning at our training centre to welcome 19 new recruits to the @HumPolSpecials team. A good start to the year and a boost to our numbers which are now the highest they have been for 4 years.

So good to be able to join these 18 officers and their families as they attested last night. They now join teams across the force to start their operational on the job training .

On Thursday I attended an investiture held by The Princess Royal at St James Palace where I was presented with the Kings Police Medal. It was an amazing experience and great recognition of the role played by the Special Constabulary as part of the policing family

Really enjoyable night last night at the Excellence in Policing Awards - celebrating some incredible people. Delighted that SC Nigel Willerton won the volunteer of the year category. Nigel has 34 years service and is a genuine great person & highly respected.👏

Busy morning at our training centre today meeting 19 new recruits to the @HumPolSpecials team as they start their training journey.

This last week was a busy one - productive SC Development Board meeting on Monday with ACC Walker, HR, L&D and Community Safety Teams. Wednesday was our SC SLT meeting and great to have @ChrisToddPSNI join us.

Really enjoyed the opportunity to meet @DianaJohnsonMP the Minister for Policing & Crime this afternoon. An opportunity to talk about the challenges facing the Special Constabulary and what we can offer policing.

I’m proud to be named in the Kings Birthday Honours list having been awarded the Kings Police Medal for Distinguished Service. I’ve loved my time in the @Humberbeat Special Constabulary and it’s a real privilege to lead the team.

I don’t think they will ever be fully effective and get 100% compliance but maybe more buy-in from the college, HMIC, PCCs etc might help influence those who previously have ignored the evidence and recommendations.
