The SCPD marched today in the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade celebrating Irish heritage, tradition, and community. It was an honor to represent Suffolk County alongside so many who came out to take part in this iconic New York tradition. ☘️ Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

SCPD Deputy Commissioner Belinda Groneman joined County Executive Ed Romaine at the 36th Annual Bayport–Blue Point St. Patrick’s Day Parade, celebrating a long-standing community tradition and the spirit of St. Pats Day with residents and families from across the community.

The SCPD remembers PO Jack Burkhardt who died on 3/15/77.  PO Burkhardt was injured in a fall while investigating a burglary in progress in Mastic. He was rushed to the hospital where succumbed to his injuries 5 days later. Officer Burkhardt was survived by his wife & 3 children.

The second seed SCPD Ice Hockey Team pulled off an upset of its neighbors to the west to take home the winter division title in the Hot Shots Hockey League. Congrats to all the players!

A historically cold winter brought unprecedented icing to our waterways which, in turn, has now brought an increase in debris from damage to docks, SCPD hosted a press conference to speak about the efforts by Marine Bureau officers to clear the waterways of debris.

Today we celebrate the women of our department, both sworn and civilian, who are dedicated to our mission of public service.

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina, members of the department and local officials joined Sadri Altinok, the president of the Turkish Cultural Center in Ronkonkoma, during a Ramadan Iftar dinner Wednesday.

SCPD Commissioner Catalina joined DA Tierney & County Exec Romaine & partners in law enforcement throughout Long Island to announce the indictment of 9 people for their involvement in a pattern of commercial burglaries & armed robberies during a span of more than 2 weeks in July.
