You are invited to join us on an Education Expedition through the schools of St. Charles Parish! This exciting program gives you the opportunity to step inside the classroom, gain an understanding of what students experience daily, and travel through the sites a child would attend throughout their educational journey. The expedition will include student performances, classroom observations/interactions, and facility tours. District and school-level administrators will be available throughout the expedition to listen to your feedback. The expedition begins at the Satellite Center at 8 AM on Friday, April 17 with a welcome from Superintendent Dr. Ken Oertling and tour. You will then travel by school bus to tour Destrehan High, Ethel Schoeffner Elementary, Harry Hurst Middle, and Eastbank Head Start. The bus then brings you back to the Satellite Center for a presentation by Superintendent Dr. Ken Oertling and lunch prepared by Satellite Center culinary arts students. For guests with more time, an optional full facility tour of the Lafon Performing Arts Center campus will follow lunch. Space is limited, so make sure to reserve your spot in the expedition today by submitting this form tinyurl.com/SpringExpediti… or calling 985-785-7275. Join us as we explore the quality education provided in St. Charles Parish Public Schools! You and I...We are St. Charles Parish Public Schools!

Superintendent Dr. Ken Oertling’s Student Advisory Council met today at the School Board Office to collaborate on district initiatives. Students worked together to help develop a recruitment plan for the 2026-2027 Student Advisory Council, provide feedback for the St. Charles Parish 250th Celebration, and learn more about the district’s AI Taskforce. Members also participated in a virtual leadership session with 7 Mindsets CEO and author Scott Shickler, focused on building strong leadership habits and empowering students to make a positive impact in their schools and community. We recently celebrated the grand openings of the Triple A Alumni Centers at Destrehan High School and Hahnville High School with ribbon-cutting ceremonies. ✂️🎉 These centers are named in honor of our district’s three pillars of excellence: Academics, Athletics, and the Arts, and will serve as active campus spaces for academic honors ceremonies, standardized testing, signing days, arts celebrations, alumni events, and student recognition programs. They highlight the proud traditions of our schools while providing a space for students, alumni, and the community to come together. Each center features historical timeline walls, interactive kiosks with digitized yearbooks, and displays of donated memorabilia that honor the legacies of the former Mary M. Bethune and George W. Carver High Schools in addition to Destrehan and Hahnville. We look forward to these facilities serving as a lasting hub for celebration, connection, and pride for future generations.

History made at Hahnville High School.
Our girls took the field for the first-ever flag football game in school history—and they didn’t just show up, they dominated. Hahnville defeated John Ehret 34–6, setting the tone for a new era. 🏈🐅

See the story of our nation come to life at ArtsFest! 🇺🇸 In celebration of America’s 250th, we are unveiling a living tapestry of our shared journey titled "The Colors That Run Through Us". Featuring contributions from every art student in our district, this collaborative work uses our building as a canvas with artwork flowing continuously along the railings. This dynamic path of color symbolizes a continuous history and the vital intergenerational connection that passes dreams from one generation to the next. By weaving through the structural elements of the building, the art reminds us that we are bound together by a common thread of unbroken unity. 🤝 Just as our nation is a multitude of voices, this exhibit reveals that the beauty of America is found in the vibrant, unstoppable flow of our collective spirit. Experience this tribute to the unifying colors of Red, White, and Blue tomorrow at the Lafon Arts Center from 10 AM to 2 PM! #YouAndIWeAreSCPPS #YouBelongHere📍

Ethel Schoeffner Elementary School is currently without electricity. As a precaution, students and faculty evacuated the building after hearing a noise immediately preceding the power outage. We are working with Entergy and local officials to determine how long the situation may continue, and Entergy crews are en route to the school. We will keep you informed as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Gifted students from all four SCPPS middle schools came together to debate the affirmative or negative on the topic of banning cell phones in school. 🎤 The event gave students the opportunity to strengthen their skills in critical thinking, research, and public speaking while presenting their arguments and responding to opposing viewpoints. 🧠📚 A special thank you to the community members and district personnel who served as judges and to the SCPPS gifted team and teachers at each middle school for supporting and preparing our students for this engaging learning experience. 👏 #YouAndIWeAreSCPPS #YouBelongHere
