🌍💙 Proud to share the impact of @SaveChildren_KE and @USAIDSavesLives on families in Garissa! 🚰 Solarized water points are transforming lives, like Hussein* and her 4 children in Bulla Hothan. No more risky walks to crocodile-infested rivers for water. Child protection matters! 🌞 Thanks to the solarised water points, families now access clean water closer to home. However, concerns on sustainability arise with plastic tanks lasting 7 years. 🤔 Community members also worry about the future and the $2 monthly contribution during drought hardships. 🤝 Chamgei Bikap Nandi! Meet Samuel and Elizabeth Kogo from Kolongei Self Help Group in Nandi Hills Sub‑County. Once fully reliant on tea farming, with little land left for kitchen gardens, their children often faced the effects of poor nutrition. But through @SaveChildren_KE Nandi Carbon–Climate Resilience, Livelihood and Nutrition Project, funded by @STC_Ventures, everything is changing. Today, the Kogos are proudly running thriving nurseries of avocado seedlings. With improved diets at home and the promise of income from future avocado harvests, they are confident their children will grow healthier and that surplus sales will help support their education too. This transformation is made possible by @STC_Ventures, together with implementing partners @kiptapkei and the County Government of Nandi. #RedHandDay we remember girls are a part of the CAAFAG story, forced into “wives”, cooks, spies, porters. Invisible-Unreleased-Uncounted. They return home with stigma excluded from reintegration. They need safety, anti-stigma work, long-term mental health & economic support.

>100,000 children have been recruited into conflict since 2005. Despite a 4.5% drop in verified cases between 2023 & 2024, childhoods are still being lost. This #RedHandDay we urge states to fund prevention, gender-sensitive reintegration, and domesticate the #VancouverPrinciples

Boys make up over 80% of CAAFAG. They are forced into combat, burdened with trauma. DDR releases them but stigma, no jobs and support blocks real reintegration. This #RedHandDay Governments, PSOs need to endorse and domesticate the #VancouverPrinciples. 👇 Tag a leader.

In 2⃣0⃣2⃣ 6⃣child protection remains urgent, especially for children living in crisis. Every child deserves safety, dignity and peace. This year, the @SC_RMCP calls for respect for the rule of law and stronger action to uphold child protection frameworks and children’s rights.

#16DaysOfActivism reminds us: youth including young women, men & those with disabilities, are key to ending GBV. Under #YPS they drive advocacy, prevent child & youth recruitment, support reintegration & challenge harmful norms. Young people build inclusive, peaceful communities.

As we mark #16DaysOfActivism, we reflect on the devastating impact of GBV and femicide on women, children, and society. In conflict, GBV spikes—recruitment and use of boys and girls by armed groups remain among the gravest violations. We call for full protection of human rights.

During the Children’s Climate Advocacy Event, @SCIRwanda launched the child-friendly version of the Continental Study on Climate Change and Children’s Rights in Africa to help them understand the climate effects on their rights and well-being and their role in protecting their planet. Children’s perspectives on climate action must be included. We, as children, are creative in finding solutions to the climate crisis. At the Africa Climate Summit, children with visual disabilities actively participated in climate discussions, and others expressed how climate change affects their rights through paintings. Since we are the most affected by climate shocks, we must be involved in climate decision-making.
