🗓️ #OTD in 1963 HMS Dreadnought – the UK’s first nuclear-powered submarine was commissioned into the Royal Navy. 63 years later, we’re delivering the future Dreadnought Class. With a supplier base 95% accounted for by the UK, delivering the class is a true national endeavour.

Great to be at #UDT2026 – the world's largest undersea defence technology event. #TeamDNE joined panels that discussed our role delivering AUKUS through supply chain management and technical expertise. UDT was a valuable opportunity to engage with the global naval community.

Submarine launches have changed since the days of dynamic launches. Today launches are a controlled process over 2-3 days that see the submarine rolled out of Devonshire Dock Hall onto the shiplift and lowered into the water at 10mm per minute to a depth of 20m. #SubmarineFacts

Due to enter service in the early 2030s, the Dreadnought Class will be the most advanced ballistic missile submarines ever built for the UK. They will future proof the UK’s nuclear deterrent, ensuring the nation’s security and that of our @NATO allies.

SDA Chief Strategic Systems Executive, Rear Adm. Lauchlan and US Director for Strategic Systems Programs, Vice Adm. Wolfe, opened the Trident Training Facility extension at HMNB Clyde 🤝. The facility provides Trident Strategic Weapon System training for the Dreadnought Class.

The NATO Submarine Rescue System is a unique international capability that shows what can be achieved through collaboration. Considered one of the most capable systems in the world it provides rescue capability to the UK, France, Norway and NATO partners via signed agreements.

Nemo spotted in Scotland 👀! The @NATO Submarine Recuse System (NSRS) has completed training near Fort William. The deep loch allowed the team to practise landing and docking Nemo onto a submerged target. Exercises ensure the NSRS is operationally poised and ready to respond.

Barrow-in-Furness has an illustrious history of submarine building. The first submarine for the Royal Navy, Holland 1, was built in Barrow-in-Furness and launched in 1901, and every submarine currently in service has been built there. #ThrowbackThursday

Another step forward for the Dreadnought programme! A structure set to be installed in one of our Dreadnought submarines arrived at BAE Systems in Barrow. The UK's future ballistic missile submarines, the class will begin to replace the Vanguard Class from the early 2030s.
