Another step forward for the Dreadnought programme! A structure set to be installed in one of our Dreadnought submarines arrived at BAE Systems in Barrow. The UK's future ballistic missile submarines, the class will begin to replace the Vanguard Class from the early 2030s.

Rounding off #BritishScienceWeek with some Vanguard facts. Each boat is: 📏 150 metres long 💡 Powered by a Pressurised Water Reactor that uses nuclear fission to convert water into steam to drive the engine and generate electricity 🌊 And produces its own oxygen and water

In HMS Anson's Submarine Maintenance Period, AUKUS personnel will participate in maintenance and familiarisation activities, and joint training exercises. SDA engineers are supporting through in-water engineering works, maintenance and emergency planning response exercises .

Yesterday @ChiefDefNuclear, Maddy McTernan CB visited Abbey Wood in Bristol. Maddy met with colleagues starting their career in the Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE), giving an overview of the DNE, career experience, relationships with industry and international partners.

The Resolution Class launched the UK's Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD)—the longest sustained military operation in British history 🇬🇧. Since 1969 CASD has protected our national security and that of our @NATO allies.

Today apprentices and graduates from across the UK were recognised for their collective impact at a Defence Nuclear Enterprise celebration event 👏. Colleagues were recognised for completing their schemes as well as individuals winning awards for their contribution to the DNE.

#OTD 140 years ago, maritime innovation started at Haslar Marine Technology Park. Haslar is a naval research and testing facility critical to submarine capabilities. From early submarine designs to present day, it continues to provide sovereign capabilities key to UK security.
