I was in a space yesterday and they were talking about utilities and benefits of nft. The perspectives were very project or tech bros. I thought that they needed to hear it from an artist. A non techy artist like me. I think I said something like (the order is all jumbled up) 'We build the reputation of this web3 art space. We are all builders here, we build different things. I show the world that art is art whatever the tech. Myself as an example, you buy my stuff, I go out into the world and get my work seen by the wider world in fairs and exhibitions, some major. That's what my 'utility' is for you. (I tell the story of how my art nft portfolio broke down doors and ranked top ten at a Biennale) (I get interrupted about some technical shit about top down bottom up etc I have no idea what he's talking about) You can't expect an artist to do exactly like you do. We are artists who do artists things. We build the reputation you build the tech or whatever. We are more like cats than dogs. You can't make us do as you do. We do what we do. There's no web3 web2 web whatever. This is just another space where we can make use of a currency that can be used anywhere. As long as an artist can make a living here I'm ok.' Immediately I was shut down and someone very angry told I m wrong and that I attacked him twice (huh?). Well he was very loud and shouting but I was there for a discussion not a shouting match so I left the space.
