@IHateSoccerPod HBK is the A team and Slammers is the B team. The club got a connection/sponsorship with the real HBK in Sweden (I think?) so they use the affiliation to create two ECNL teams and two ECRL teams.

@mlycan12 @fitsoccerqueen @JulieFoudy @AbbyWambach As a preteen my parents always planned a family week in summer- told the coach BEFORE season started. If it was a free weekend, good. If it landed on a tourney, tough luck. They didn’t live their life for sports - that said , I missed 0 days of school or practice outside of that.

Great episode and worth a listen as @JulieFoudy and @AbbyWambach discuss burnout at the youth sports level.
They endorse being OK with missing games for prom or even family vacation. I get their point about unrealistic demands of year round club and now HS playing all summer and the pressure to specialize. But I could not help wonder as I listen to it about the “commitment” factor. If a player is granted a spot on the team, is it OK to bail on the team for a vacation? Or have we reached such a level of insanity and an unreasonable level of “commitment” that are forced upon young children with a youth sports schedule that it’s OK to prioritize life outside sports at times?
I’m a little torn honestly, as I see the point they are trying to make. but I also always thought it was incredibly important to teach my children the value of following through on commitments. What if 10 players on the team decided they had something more important than the game?
Curious as to thoughts on this. @WTTPartyPodcast @WMTribeWSOC

@ImCollegeSoccer If kids didn’t average playing around 30 minutes per game-they shouldn’t enter Portal unless they are willing to move “down” a level. This is also a fact. Most active coaches won’t say this.

I usually tell any GK’s I work with that are trying to get on D1 rosters “if you want to play go the NJCAA route. Get your games in, get experience, pay less and then go fight to be a #2 or #1 as a junior or senior.
It’s what I did.”
So many GK’s entering the transfer portal because of lack of playing time or just not ready to perform at that level…

A 13-year-old Canadian kid uploaded R&B covers to YouTube in 2008 from his bedroom. A talent manager named Scooter Braun stumbled on the videos and signed him.
For the next 15 years, Braun controlled everything. Tours, branding, business deals, public image. The kid became the biggest pop star on the planet, sold 150 million records, racked up 32 billion Spotify streams, and had three Diamond-certified singles before turning 25.
Then in 2022, he got hit with Ramsay Hunt syndrome. Partial facial paralysis. Cancelled the world tour. Disappeared from public life entirely.
Here's where it gets interesting.
In January 2023, he sold his entire 290-song catalog to Hipgnosis for $200 million. Every song he'd ever released. "Baby." "Sorry." "Love Yourself." All of it. Gone. At 28 years old, he cashed out his past.
Then he dropped Scooter Braun. After 15 years. No manager. No agent. For the first time in his career, nobody was making decisions for him.
Fast forward to this weekend. Coachella calls. He picks up the phone himself. Rolling Stone confirmed he negotiated his own headlining deal directly with Goldenvoice. No agent commission. No manager cut. $10 million for two weekends, and he kept all of it.
Then he walked onto the biggest stage in music, sat down behind a MacBook, and pulled up YouTube.
He played "Baby" from 2010. He played his bedroom covers from 2008. He harmonized with his 13-year-old self in front of 100,000 people. Katy Perry joked about whether he had YouTube Premium.
Half the internet called it lazy. The other half called it genius.
They're both wrong. It was a receipt.
He sold his catalog for $200 million. He fired the man who discovered him. He negotiated his own deal. And then he went back to the exact platform where it all started and said: I built this from a laptop. I'm headlining Coachella from a laptop. And for the first time in my life, every dollar is mine.
The kid from YouTube just closed the loop.

@KeruboSk Not the best person to speak because I’ve never makeup at all. But, normal traditional day. I feel gross in makeup more than mascara.

Joe Rogan tells Theo Von to his face he’s “losing his f*cking marbles” during the latest episode of the podcast.
Rogan then urged him to get off antidepressants after Von went on a bizarre rant.
VON: “It’s all just a cat and mouse game.”
“People are like, ‘we’ll elect the Democrats next time.’ But it’s all...the same sh*t has been happening forever.”
“They haven’t been helping anybody forever.”
“They’re letting f*cking politicians slurp on kids!”
“All of our f*cking money goes to Israel and they’re using it to f*cking genocide people!”
“It’s like, everybody is scared out of their wits right now. It’s like, our religious leaders are afraid to speak out.”
“It’s like...the...it’s a time where it’s like...satan is amongst us and our religious leaders are talking about bullsh*t at the polls!”
“It’s just like, what is going...I don’t know man.”
ROGAN: “We gotta get you off those antidepressants, son.”
“You’re losing your f*cking marbles!”
VON: “You think I am?”
ROGAN: “Come hang out with us. Just chill out!”
