Exc: The govt has promised to “crack down” on care companies restricting families from visiting relatives with learning disabilities, following an ITV News investigation. Care Minister told me govt looking at changing the law to strengthen visiting rights itv.com/news/2026-03-1…

I realise that a lot of those staff members there did not hurt my son. I understand not all the staff that works there are abusive, and I am sorry they will lose their jobs, but keeping a hospital like St Andrews open to autistic Ld people will be to continue with the abuse of vulnerable people and children, years ago I said take everyone out of the building and burn it to the ground and that is what needs done burn the damn place to the ground, the crazy thing was at the height of abuse from st Andrew’s when my son was there they started building the other side why? Why did they build that? Certainly was not for the good of people with autism and learning disability it was as always was for them money. The cash cows that were my son and hundreds of others like him. Putting my son in a a ward that had child molesters rapids violent criminals that comes from one of the largest high secure prisons in the country, how could that be ? Why did they think that putting me inocente 18 year old severally autistic son with such violent man was okay? The violence my son received at the hands of those staff members and doctors nurses I will never ever forgive. Years on I never received an apology from St Andrews or anyone in NHS or in power, government from the damage and trauma both St Andrews and priory caused my son and me and my other two children, they saw what was being done to their brother and it was traumatic for them to see that their beautiful brother who had lived at home in a happy loving family who had never hurt him and then having a bunch of complete strangers abuse their brother my son was and still is trauma for them, the worse thing is 7 years on my son my whole family suffer trauma from this my son most certainly have ptsd, but no trauma assessments or help has come to him or any of us, Today my son is having serious side effects of those drugs that st Andrew’s started him on, its very probable that its irreversible tardic dyskinesia my beautiful boy will never be the same. Those people those that the union are concerned about nearly killed my son they abused him in aways that no animal should yet they did it to my beloved human being of my son, he’s crime? Being severely autistic, those people should worry more about what their clients did to people rather than their jobs. @nikkijfox bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

For the past year we’ve investigated how the care system, NHS and courts are failing and neglecting learning disabled people, with fatal consequences. They consistently tell us: we don’t have a voice. We decided to listen. Their words should shame us all itv.com/watch/news/it-…

Reminder: The Terminally Ill Adults Bill, as it was passed in the HoC, not only allows those with Down Syndrome #assistedsuicide but provides for a guide to help them kill themselves. With the #parliamentact, a future bill must also do so.
National Down Syndrome Policy Group@NDSPolicyGroup

Widespread concerns about the #AssistedDyingBill continue to be ignored. @LordCFalconer’s latest amendments further weaken protections: advocates could be waived or need not be present, leaving vulnerable people at risk. Safeguards must keep people safe #NotCollateralDamage
