Okay I know this is going to sound like a really odd thing for someone to try and “take credit” for…
But I swear it’s true: I was responsible for this phony/ “mock”movie poster of The Alligator People.
Back in the early 2000s I was building my very first website. I wanted to have a page showing the things that influenced my artwork and comics like favorite movies, etc. I looked all over the internet trying to find a cool poster to represent The Alligator People and none I found looked very impressive. So I took this publicity still photo of the alligator monster and the actress Beverly Garland and cut out the logo & credits from one of the real posters, and put it all together on early Photoshop.
I specifically remember having to enlarge and stretch the credits under the title to make it fit right. Notice how fuzzy around the edges the letters look from straining that little piece of low resolution jpg to the breaking point? Still seemed like it needed something so I put a layer of aqua green filter over the whole image.
Maybe this wasn’t the coolest looking poster either, but it worked as an eye-catching, bright green thumbnail on a black background that you could click and enlarge to get a better look at.
I deactivated that old website ages ago but somebody must have saved my mock-up Alligator People poster because every once in a while I still see it pop up on image sites. And I always think Hey that’s the one I made! But if I say so nobody will believe me or think I must be crazy to even claim such a silly insignificant thing. But anyway yeah. Feel free to call me crazy or a liar now if you want!🤪
P.S. - I also made a similar Photoshop-cobbled-together mock poster for The Big Sleep, for my old website. But I haven’t seen that one pop up anywhere.

@shambalor I got away by blasting it to particles. But here it is, back again. The way it always was. Harmless.
Captain Taylor fingered the red-and-white rug warily. "That's my rug. I brought it from Terra. My wife gave it to me. I -- I trusted it completely."
English

@shambalor Hall placed four items on Commander Morrison's desk: a microscope, a towel, a metal belt, and a small red-and-white rug.
She edged away nervously. "Major, are you sure -- ?"
"They're all right, now. That's the strangest part. This towel. A few hours ago it tried to kill me.

@LilithThelema In the Elder Days, they could film an action chase scene in snow with a character dressed entirely in white, and it still looked like a color film.
Sadly, these techniques are now lost to history.

@PeterSaker2 yes, Dick was much better at controlling his plotting in his short stories - sometimes he could make it work in his novels - but mostly they were very loose - i think generally novel readers are very forgiving

@SFFAudio "The Hanging Stranger" is especially good as a short story, what with the main character himself becoming the title character by the end.

@PeterSaker2 ROOG, is delightful and daring
SMALL TOWN packs a punch
THE FATHER THING, THE PRESERVING MACHINE, UPON THE DULL EARTH, BEYOND THE DOOR, PROGENY, FOSTER, YOURE DEAD, THE SKULL, THE COOKIE LADY, SECOND VARIETY, SALES PITCH, THE HANGING STRANGER - all are gold spun from straw
English

@SFFAudio I disagree. His short stories end up being too preachy and "shitlib" (ie. politically conventional) while novels like Ubik and Flow My Tears loosen-up and go off in interesting directions.

I am such a nerd about Gorilla Suits - and did so much research when writing and drawing my comic book "Wulf and Batsy issue 7: The Gorilla Suit Maniac", that I can actually name 3 of the 4 actors in these photos.
Pic 1 - Is the one that has me stumped. I could make a few guesses but feel too uncertain to say.
Pic 2 - is Ray "Crash" Corrigan in the Gorilla Suit, holding actress Anne Gwynne for a publicity still advertising the movie "Strange Case of Dr.X". Nothing like this scene actually occurs in the movie (yes I have it on DVD) but there is a whole series of great still shots from this same photo session, at least 3 in which the Gorilla looks cooler and Ms.Gwynne looks sexier, than this one.
Pic 3 - is actor Emil Van Horne in the Gorilla Suit, carrying a dancer for a midnight jungle live stage show at the Florentine Gardens nightclub in the 1940s.
Pic 4 - is Ray "Crash" Corrigan again, with the actress Acquanetta, in a publicity still for the movie "Captive Wild Woman".
For more info on Gorilla Suits see my "Issue Commentary" video for "Wulf and Batsy issue 7: The Gorilla Suit Maniac" on my YouTube channel.

if ive learned anything from my extensive study of history it is that ladies are pretty floppy and generally need to be carried around by gentleman gorillas
