Methil Community Fire Station's Fire Fighters Charity Car Wash is today between 11am and 4pm. Not doing anything, feel free to come along have your car washed in aid of a great charity! See you all there.

A team of current and former SFRS employees will be embarking on a 600 mile charity cycle ride visiting all 65 Community Fire Stations in the East Area. From Tyndrum to Newcastleton and everywhere in between. (2/3)

Thankfully Flynn won’t be going very far as he has already applied to become one of our volunteer instructors where he will be able to pass on all his knowledge and skills to the next group of volunteers at Methil YVS. Well done Flynn you have been a pleasure to work with.

Flynn is away to start college to follow his passion of becoming a motorbike mechanic. Three years of working with fire service pumps and learning all the technical skills required to be a fire fighter has certainly not been wasted.

Yesterday was a special night for our group of volunteers. Flynn, who has been with us from the very first day of Methil YVS, has finally turned 18. We have watched him develop from being a quiet young boy to becoming a confident and enthusiastic young man.

Many thanks to CC Fenton and Edinburgh OC Red Watch for their hospitality, our volunteers loved it and learned a lot. Big thanks again to our hero's in headsets!!

Last week our volunteers visited Edinburgh Operations Control to learn what goes on behind the scenes when someone calls for the fire service. They understood the importance of what Firefighter Control does and how they play a crucial role supporting Firefighters.

Last week before we break off for Easter Holidays. It’s amazing how the promise of an Easter Egg. If they do a good job, seemed to motivate them instantly. They even managed to get some water on the appliance 🚒🚒

Without his continuous love & dedication towards YVS Methil, we wouldn't have progressed to where we are today. As a thank you to Scott, everybody chipped in for a delicious cake and card!

Thankly, our casualty dummy was saved every time. Well done to all our YVs who are continuously learning new skills!! We also celebrated our Local Scheme Coordinator, Scott's birthday!

Last week our volunteers put their BA search and radio communication skills into practice. Our YVs split into two different crews navigating the station in aid of finding the child casualty dummy. This put their teamwork, communication, and navigation skills to the ultimate test!

Listening and communicating are important skills to learn. They all worked together ensuring each message was copied, understood and relayed back. They also tested their knowledge with the phonetic alphabet. Overall a super job from all!! 🚒

Tonight, our Youth Volunteers learnt the importance of radio procedure and communication between Operational Control and Firefighters on the incident ground. Each YV had the opportunity to participate in moch scenarios, communicating back and forth with each other!

On Thursday, our group received their certificates for successfully completing their Emergency First Aid at Work course. Well done everyone, another life skill learnt. ✅ Massive thanks to East Neuk First Responders for delivering an excellent course.

It was beginning to feel a lot like Christmas this week when our group helped out at the Denbeath Christmas Fayre. YCC Wyatt and YV Jay even got to meet up with Santa. Santa said they have been very good boys this year, so hopefully they will get a visit on Christmas morning. 🎅🏼
