We have a lot to learn from Norway’s approach to youth sport. Instead of pushing early specialization and intense competition, Norway focuses on helping kids stay active, have fun, and build a lifelong love of movement. The result? Healthy, confident adults who enjoy being active on their own terms. In the U.S., about 70% of kids quit organized sports by age 13 — often because of pressure, burnout, or a focus on competition too early.
