@SHLab4 Carotenoids protect the chlorophyll from photooxidation. "Bleachers" are herbicides which inhibit carotenoid biosynthesis. Thus, using these herbicides leads to the degradation of chlorophyll, and result in typical bleaching symptoms in plants.
