Two weeks ago, the KEI-week took place. We had the honour to organise two lectures for their conference for new students in Groningen, one on AI in the #EU and one on the influence of pornography on youth. We'd still like to thank @kulaniadias and @ChellyMaes for joining us!

Last week, on Thursday the 16th, we had the pleasure to host @harsh_mander and the notable Dutch #sociologist Jan Breman for a discussion on identity #politics, populism, and the rise of illiberal democracies in #India, together with @UCGroningen @UnivGroningen and @crcg_rug🤩

Last week on Monday, we were joined by Malte Renz and @jakubwiech. They provided us with more insights on climate change adaptations, the importance of mitigation, and energy security. We'd still like to thank them for this interesting symposium!

Last week, we had the pleasure to host Anne-Lot Hoek. She gave a lecture on how the #Netherlands is facing up on its #colonial past, and shared the findings of her research on the Indonesian independence war of 1945-1949 with us. We'd still like to thank her for joining us!

On the 16th of May, we were joined by Mr Szabolcs Horvath of @EU_Commission for a lecture on the EU policy on the Western #Balkans. We'd still like to thank him for giving this lecture and sharing his knowledge!

We are proud to announce that we held our 10th annual #Diplomats Dinner two weeks ago! Our members and participants got to talk to several diplomats while enjoying dinner at #VanSwinderenHuys. We'd like to thank everyone who participated and our PG for organising this event.

Two weeks ago, we organised an interview with Ms Marja Verloop. In this interview, people were able to ask her questions about her background and career as Chargé d’Affaires of the @usembthehague. We'd still like to thank her for joining us and sharing her experiences with us!

Three weeks ago, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr Seonok Lee for a lecture on marriage migration in South Korea. She examined the gender and racial inequalities with us and the everyday life experiences of foreign brides and husbands. We'd still like to thank her for joining us!

Last week, we organised a symposium with @GS_Groningen. We'd still like to thank Jason Bartlett and @MalcolmCV for joining us to talk about the financing of a dictatorship, the link with cybercrime and cryptos, and the effects these digital developments have on sanction policies!

Last week, our Activities Committee organised a lecture by Prof @adrianrogstad on the Russian invasion of #Ukraine. He explained the history to us, discussed why this might have happened now and what we can do. We'd like to thank him for providing us with insights on this topic!

On the 28th of February, we organised the Municipal Election Debate with @forum_groningen. Eleven parties participated and gave pitches on how to make Groningen a better place to live. We'd like to thank all participants, and @Martialis1 for moderating this event!

Last Monday, we had a symposium with Dr @FraGiumelli and Dr Pim Geelhoed from @illicittraderug on the question of whether or not the Netherlands is a narco-state. We would like to thank them for joining us!

Last week on Monday, @LebeloOlitha joined us to talk about the history of apartheid in South Africa and the consequences of this for today's South African society. We would still like to thank her for this insightful and interesting lecture!

Last week, we had a lecture by Dr Jeanine Kamphuis, psychiatrist at @umcg. She explained whether or not psychedelics can be seen as a solution to mental health issues, and gave us more information about what this treatment would look like. We'd like to thank her for joining us!
