As part of the ongoing visit to the Republic of Korea, coinciding with the official visit of Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, the Indian Defence Industry Delegation visited Huneed Technologies in Seoul on 21 May 2026 — a company at the forefront of Korea’s defence and aerospace industry since 1968. During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the company’s mission-ready capabilities in radio, radar, and networking solutions, as well as its ongoing defence programmes, followed by a facility tour showcasing its manufacturing and technological expertise. The interaction also enabled Indian defence industry representatives to present their core capabilities and explore opportunities for future collaboration in technologies, co-development, and industrial cooperation. The visit further reinforced industry-to-industry engagement and the shared commitment of both countries towards strengthening defence industrial cooperation and resilient supply chain partnerships.

Coinciding with the official visit of Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh to the Republic of Korea, the Department of Defence Production, MoD India, and the Embassy of India in Seoul, in association with DAPA, SIDM, and KDIA, organised the India–South Korea Defence Industry Roundtable on 20 May 2026 in Seoul. Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh emphasised that India seeks trusted partners with whom technologies can be jointly created, reinforcing the vision of collaborative innovation and co-development. SIDM, in association with the UK Ministry of Defence and UKIBC, hosted the UK Defence MSME Trade Mission in Bengaluru, bringing together leading defence and aerospace companies from India and the United Kingdom to strengthen industrial partnerships and business collaboration. The visiting UK delegation represented diverse technology domains including autonomous systems, UAVs and counter-UAV technologies, AI-enabled command & control systems, radar and surveillance solutions, RF spectrum monitoring, optronics, precision engineering, aerospace manufacturing, advanced propulsion systems and integrated supply chain solutions. The Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with SIDM, organised an interactive session with the Defence Attachés (Designate) on 14 May 2026 in New Delhi. The session was conducted as part of the Ministry’s 11th Pre-Deployment Empowerment Training Programme with the objective of familiarising the Defence Attachés with the capabilities, export potential, and growing global outreach of the Indian defence industry. During the session, SIDM presented an overview of the Indian defence ecosystem, highlighting the sector’s rapid advancements, indigenous capabilities, and export opportunities. Industry representatives also showcased their technological strengths, flagship product offerings, export readiness, and areas for potential international collaboration. The interaction provided valuable insights to the Defence Attachés (Designate), equipping them to effectively project India’s defence manufacturing capabilities in their respective countries of deployment and facilitate strategic engagements with global stakeholders. SIDM remains committed to supporting the Ministry of Defence in advancing India’s vision of becoming a global hub for defence manufacturing and exports.

SIDM, in association with UK Defence Exports, the National Armaments Directorate, UK Ministry of Defence, and the UK India Business Council (UKIBC), successfully commenced the UK Defence MSME Trade Mission with its inaugural session in New Delhi, setting the tone for deeper India–UK collaboration in defence and aerospace. The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Garima Bhagat, Joint Secretary (Land Systems), Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence; Mr. Dominic Beales, Head of Trade Mission and Deputy Head (Americas & Indo-Pacific), National Armaments Directorate, UK Ministry of Defence; and Mr. Neelesh Tungar, Chairman, SIDM International & Exports Committee and CEO, Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited During the session, Mr. Neelesh Tungar highlighted three priorities for strengthening bilateral defence cooperation — ensuring predictability and long-term visibility for industry investments, reducing friction points such as export controls and licensing processes, and promoting risk-sharing to support co-development, particularly for MSMEs and start-ups. The mission will now advance into structured B2B engagements aimed at building joint ventures and strengthening bilateral industrial ties.

North Tech Symposium 2026 hosted a high-impact seminar on “Strategic Autonomy in Next Generation Advancement & Manufacturing (SANGAM)”, bringing together distinguished leaders from defence and academia for insightful debates and deliberations on the future of India’s defence ecosystem. The panel featured eminent voices including Lt Gen Raj Shukla (Retd), Lt Gen Rahul R Singh, DCOAS (CD&S), Mr Neelesh Tungar (Chairman, SIDM International Committee), Prof A. K. Ghosh (IIT Kanpur), with Brig Anshuman Narang (Retd) moderating the session. The discussions underscored the urgency of accelerating defence modernisation to maintain dominance across evolving combat theatres, with a strong focus on fast-track procurement frameworks for rapidly advancing technologies. Experts deliberated on the increasing convergence of multi-domain warfare and the strategic weaponisation of emerging domains such as cyber, space, and AI-driven systems. A key highlight was the emphasis on fostering an Atmanirbhar defence innovation ecosystem, including the proposition of a dedicated defence-focused financial framework to empower startups, alongside sustained investments in defence R&D.
