Why sample size matters Take a look at this equity curve simulator. It's all the same trading strategy, but it shows the different ways it can play out over 100 trades. This is a profitable trading system. Yet in some instances it can still look like: • Break-even after 80 trades • Down after 50 trades • Sitting in a sizeable drawdown • Making you question whether the strategy even works And that's the point. Next time you start doubting your system after a few losing trades, remember this chart. You can have a profitable edge and still have difficult trading periods. Losing streaks are normal. Drawdowns are normal. Periods of frustration and doubt are normal. The key is not judging your system over a handful of trades.
