@andycatherall1 @alisonleary1 They have similar post-graduate training but see, treat and discharge patients with complex conditions without medical supervision. Trainees are paid B6 and qualified paid B7. However, as an ACP in urgent care, the work is more complicated so the going rate is B8a

@andycatherall1 @alisonleary1 I think pay comes down to qualifications, skills and responsibilities determined by Agenda for Change formulae. In a minor injuries setting at which I sometimes work, the units are managed by nurse and paramedic practitioners who get the same pay for doing the same role.

@alisonleary1 I was under the impression that you started this debate, which then moved on to the matter of autonomous practice and different degrees of autonomy.

@alisonleary1 @andycatherall1 I won’t argue what I consider to be a science, but many branches of modern psychology are. I should have specified medical science. Do band 5 nurses discharge patients from hospital? I’m not devaluing the importance of a diverse, multidisciplinary team BTW
