I found the official Get Information about Schools website a bit clunky, so I made a new one with Claude Code. You can: - Set a postcode and see all schools within a radius of that you've chosen, filtered by type of school. - Filter and rank by the old one-word Ofsted ratings, with a link to the Ofsted page for each school. Where available, the sub-ratings are also viewable. - Filter and rank by percentage of students on free school meals. - View how full up schools are (number of pupils vs capacity). I meet Mme Janine and her daughter (whose son is at the same school as my children) and I explain my purpose. Janine is *delighted* and explains that her husband is a clarinet teacher of 30 years and used to play with the Opera de Marseille. I am (quietly) beside myself.

The universe is mocking me: I've been looking high and low for a clarinet teacher for my son. From my office window, I can hear someone in our neighbourhood practicing their clarinet expertly. Should I follow the sound and proposition them with a demand for lessons?

My day started off beautifully on Hunstanton beach finding star fish and enjoying the sea air and coastal landforms. It finished in Kings Lynn A&E with a fractured finger…not mine. Bella had her hand in the hinge of a door as it closed, just as we were leaving for home

Reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to my children and having to do a fair bit of gendered-censoring. “That’s just like girls / boys!” “Battle is no place for girls” etc. Totally filtered this out and don’t remember it at all from my childhood!
