Pencils, books, laptops, those are the tools of students and what you expect to find on a college campus. But here’s what the NYPD found in Hamilton Hall at Columbia University after we were able to arrest the protestors and agitators for commandeering and barricading themselves inside the building. Gas masks, ear plugs, helmets, goggles, tape, hammers, knives, ropes, and a book on TERRORISM. These are not the tools of students protesting, these are the tools of agitators, of people who were working on something nefarious. Thankfully, your NYPD was able to prevent whatever they were planning and stop them before they could do it. Continue to peacefully and lawfully protest; but know that if you engage in illegal conduct, the NYPD will hold you responsible and hold you accountable—someone has to.

The event pictured below has been approved by the U of Cincy. Jewish student fear is growing and the university is sanctioning hate-based activities. Please elevate what’s happening to Jewish students around the UC campus.

Jewish students at UC are becoming increasingly victims of harassment and threat. Please take a look at this IG post by a campus – sponsored organization. This event and flyer had to be approved by the University.

The state of Israel was envisioned not so that “Never Again”, but so that “Never at all”. The genius of Zionism and Theodor Herzl is that he understood well before many others that Europe would not be able to live up to its noble ideals of equality and fraternity when it came to the Jews. He therefore made the powerful case, known as Zionism, that the Jews had to constitute themselves as a sovereign people in their own state, in their own land, if they are ever to be able to walk as equals among the nations.
Thanks to the vision of Herzl - both his ability to identify early the impending danger to the Jews in Europe and his genius in constructing a path forward for his people and setting up the infrastructure and institutions - and the Jews who rallied to his vision, the Jewish people had an embryonic state already in the 1930’s, with institutions and international legitimacy through the League of Nations Mandate.
Consider the following: the Jewish people already had the basis of a state that could have been home to millions of Jews who were desperate to get out of Europe, which as Herzl presciently saw, failed, in the most gruesome manner, to live up to its noble ideals when it came to Jews. There could have been a State of Israel which would have participated in the 1938 Evian Conference, where no nation was willing to accept the Jews, and say “we want them”.
But one thing Herzl failed to see, which transformed the state of Israel from one that should have been “Never at All” to “Never Again”: the brutal Arab violence against the establishment of a state for the Jews in any part of the land, that began already in the 1920’s. This brutal violence, no different from the massacres of Hamas, led the British, rather than to be more resolute in their carrying out the mandate they received from the League of Nation, to betray it, and close the doors of Jewish immigration to the embryonic state that was created for them and which was waiting for them to come.
As a result what could have been perhaps “only” the ethnic cleansing of Jews from the European continent, became a full scale genocide with the “Final Solution”. We can know that with relative certainty, because only two decades later, when the Arab world conducted its own thorough ethnic cleansing of its Jews (and these are communities that often predated Islam and the Arab conquests of North Africa and the Middle East), the majority of them escaped to Israel. This time, there was a sovereign Jewish state that could open its gates and ensure that at least for the Jews of the Arab world it was “Never at All”. And so, the Jews in the Arab world suffered massacres and “only” ethnic cleansing, rather than a full scale genocide.
And now, in the face of the brutality and viciousness and wanton glee at the massacre of our people in our land we are now saying “Never Again, Again”. We know now that we will never feel fully certain that we can keep this promise fully and completely, but what is clear is that we cannot afford to ever again underestimate the true face and consequences of the hatred we are facing.
Nothing to see here — and that’s a good thing. Last week’s CT scan shows NED — no evidence of disease for #lungcancer. Had lobectomy in April. Scans every 3 months, keep on taking pill-a-day targeted therapy for the EGFR mutation. Dx w stage 4 Nov 2022. Feeling terrific :)
Celebrating Jewish American History Month (JAHM) is an annual recognition and celebration of American Jews' achievements and contributions to the United States of America during the month of May.
As a reporter, I judge accuracy of information and consider the source. As a #lungcancer patient it’s hard to NOT click on something promising a cure. Lots of stuff online and in social media isn’t credible (or worse). Glad to join @FDAOncology discussion. fda.gov/science-resear…
