@SJQuakeDanny @milkospit I’m amazed how many people in the bay have zero idea about the existence of the earthquakes.

The San Jose earthquakes are top of the table and arguably the best team in the league and I’ll see like 1 person a week who even kinda knows. At most I’m just seeing the logo more. This only applies when the country breathes football unfortunately

@milkospit @Tightlettuce They barely market anywhere. As a kid i remember being so shocked when other kids would say they have no clue what the earthquakes are

@SJQuakeDanny @Tightlettuce the rest of the bay feels a bit disconnected from the quakes i think is a problem. i live in the east bay and they barely market over here and as a result not that many people care about them. wish they tried to branch out of the south bay more

@SJQuakeDanny @Tightlettuce IDK I remember during the 2022 World Cup my entire high school was basically put on hold. PE class was just watching the World Cup. In other classes at least 2 students per class had it running on their laptops the entire class and teachers just let them. Its MLS not soccer

@tanuj34412389 I disagree, San Jose has always had great soccer culture. The issue is just most people don’t care about the quakes themselves due to a multiple reasons. I’d say the biggest issue is the owner never doing anything to grow the team

@SJQuakeDanny also probably doesn’t help that they play in san jose. feels like most young soccer fans in the bay are up in sf/oakland and won't make the trip unless the team has massive pull. I hoped Timo might change that.

@maxcorncob Oh absolutely. But if San Jose and the quakes were in England and topping any league table there the entire city would be absolutely ecstatic. I don’t blame anyone besides fisher. It’s just shit for people who were lucky to be born in England to gatekeep others from teams.
