"Leave it, it's not your job to tidy up. The waitress will do it - it's what she's paid for." ... and if I can spend 20 seconds making her job a tiny bit easier for her with zero negative effects for myself? Why wouldn't I do that? If you have a choice, always be kind.

@palminvesting The challenge with saying 'there's so much info, just Google something!' is... that there's so much info. Folks don't know what they don't know, and just thinking about where to start can be super overwhelming. And that's not including the BS that's out there now, unfortunately

It is surprising how many people (outside of X) do not understand personal finance. My coworker told me he has over $30,000 sitting in a non-HYSA. I get the current education system does not do anyone any favors. However, there are so many free resources online to learn about basic personal finance/investing.

@Investmentkage I'd respect the right to vote - not necessarily the person. Respect must be earned, and if someone votes for an individual who wants to remove safety and rights from other people because of who they are rather than something they've done... They're not worth my respect.

I don’t care who you vote for. I will still respect you as a person no matter who you vote for. Why? because you are a human. You can have different views and still work/get along with someone.

@Rawk_FI I find it fascinating, personally. Most folks still want to work, but on their own terms. It does reinforce the idea of UBI for me, tbh. 😅😂 Also, the world is on fire. Folks may as well enjoy what they can, when they can. Nothing is stable anymore.

There’s so many “FIRE” types these days, it’s hard to keep up with all of them. Seems like more and more people are moving away from the traditional FIRE mentality. (In this space) I might even go as far as to say, it’s gotten a bad rap. Why do you think that is?

@DruidessThe @adamfare1996 'They're in a same-sex relationship' is better than assuming they're gay. :) I'm married to a woman, and people refer to me as a lesbian even though I'm not (ironically my wife is, though 😅) - I'm pansexual. :)

@MrBudgetBill You're focusing on the wrong thing, imo. The issue won't be the fact that the accounts are separate. It'll be the lack of communication around money (which may or may not be causation for the former).

Over the past 10 years, I have had 3 close friends come to the conclusion of a divorce I noticed all 3 families operated like roommates, instead of married couples Example: they kept their finances separate from each other The #1 issue when speaking to each of them was related to money Each of the 3 relationships, one spouse made almost double what the other made. But they still split the bills mostly 50/50. In the end after the divorce, the spouse that made the most, was much well positioned than the other. Is this fair? I personally don't believe it is fair nor do I believe married couples should split their bills. What are your thoughts?

@InvestorJared Start! Don't overthink and just throw a few pounds into an ISA, then make sure you choose the most aggressive investment option (usually 90-10 stocks/bonds). Make it a solid % of your income to start with. Also, keep up with learning video editing, don't drop the hobby. 🥲

@sunsopeningband Pop it in a smoothie! :) Or 'kale crisps' are surprisingly delicious. In the oven for about 15 mins with a bit of oil and salt (I often put smokes paprika on it as well).

Question for you, dear reader. I bought kale this week. I’m serious enough about it to have washed and chopped it. The question: now what? How do I make this Brillo pad taste enough like something else that my family and I can avail ourselves of its superfoodness? Ideas welcome.

A gentle reminder for anyone 'fed up' with all of the UK political 💿🐎 today: - Reading/consuming media is inherantly political (even if not in the way you might think) - Advocacy is more important now than ever - Sod the Tories - ALL media is political (in different ways)

It's Friday, the sun is shining, the birds are singing... ... and the Tories have suffered a massive defeat. It's a good day to have a good day. 😀

Before spending your savings on this, check the editor's note on the actual research: "concerns have been raised regarding the methodology and reporting of this clinical trial and an incomplete declaration of competing interests, which are currently being investigated" 1/2

@DividendEng Yup, and it was one of the best things I ever spent too much money on. 😂 Not for career - I mean, no-one needs an MA in English, but I learned how to learn that year, and a lot about myself, and it gave me space to start my side-business, too. :)

An eye-opening breakdown: #Labour versus #Tory economical differences. Labour (historically) has been better for worker compensation. But going against the idea that the Tories are "better with money" - turns out Labour do much better with fiscal debt! uk.investing.com/news/economy/e…

Here with my emotional support gin and tonic while I watch a TV breakup (en español) that I'm way too invested in as a guiri. 🫠 Makes my continued Spanish learning more interesting (and heartbreaking) though! @lacopademarta 😅 #Mafin #LGBT #Immigrant

@MrBudgetBill If you constantly refer to your partner as 'the ball and chain', you should probably get a divorce. 🙃 If you're not happy with your spouse, you either work on it or get a divorce. Likewise if you don't 'let them' have friends of the opposite gender (if hetero). Get therapy.

"According to recent studies..." Derek, if you don't link the study in your Twitter thread, I'm not trusting you. "Recent studies suggest" isn't any more trustworthy than "my auntie's hairdresser mentioned..." Bring. Receipts. Or stop making stuff up for clout.

Just saw a fitness account giving his 'top 31 pieces of advice' for getting into shape. Most of them were sensible and solid. But then... "Learn to cook, or marry a girl who already knows." Holy heteronormativity/patriarchy, Batman! 😵‍💫 Anyone else get the ick from this?

@anymanfitness Apart from the people who don't actually feel hunger? Or the people who've cracked volume eating? Sincerely, someone who's included in both of the above and is on a 1kg-per-month gentle (sustainable!) fat loss journey for the last 4 months.

I'm not sure who needs to hear this, but if you never feel hunger, you're not losing fat. In fact, odds are good you're putting on sloppy weight. Hunger is a natural response, and it should be welcomed, particularly in a fat loss phase.
