🟢🟢 “If you have 100,000 shares of MTN, you would get 500,000 naira in dividends, cool passive income.” What they “probably” forgot to tell you is that to own just, 1,000 shares of MTN currently, you would need nothing less than 600,000 naira. That 1,000 shares would earn you just 5k (based on last dividend paid). That is why I tell new beginners to make sure their goal in investing is not dividends, if it comes, fine and good. Make sure you invest in good companies, your small capital would appreciate. If one had just 50k and bought MTN in September 2025, less than 5 months ago, today that 50k would be worth about 69k, and it would keep appreciating over time. Your man gives you 50k as gift, you take 30k inside and you buy stock of a properly researched company. You do business and make profit of 15k, and you take 5k to buy more. That is how you grow your account. Tiny drops DCA a river. It is best you take time to learn how to research than to just follow the wind of hype.
