As @frankcottrell_b says in the article, the solution is in our hands. Stop closing libraries. Retain school librarians and employ many more. Fund author visits to schools. Publishers, stop throwing cash at celebrities and focus instead on engaging young readers. We can fix this.

A #school #librarian can make a huge difference.
They will invest in comic books and manga and novels not found on supermarket shelves. They will bring in authors and generate enthusiasm around #readingforpleasure. They will make the #library the most popular place in the school
