Our ethnicity is a fact, it influences our culture and style. It still doesn’t make us “Mexico’s” team, only 1.5% of UTRGV students are Mexican nationals. It is Mexicos team. Not much in border towns of Mexico sports wise. Was there for SLU ⚾️ series and asked folks where they were from. Many told us they came for game over the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge.
If UTRGV located N of Dallas attendance would mirror Lamar SFA…

Cool as a cucumber. I’m just compelled to call out ignorance about my hometown region and alma mater when I see it. We’re not Mexico’s team and we don’t get funding from cartels. PUF is nearly $40B, and although UTRGV doesn’t get the benefits that UT-Austin does, they do have access for capital projects, system investments and one-time allocations.

URTGV, an unranked Southland Conference team from middle of nowhere Edinburg, TX can fill their stadium to capacity and have a crazy environment but we can’t? I’m sick to my stomach fam. (Shoutout URTGV though. Sick environment and great fan base. Monster in the making.)
