The Ministry of Trade and Tourism of the Republic of Somaliland held a broad consultative meeting to discuss parts of the Draft Trademark Law. The purpose of the meeting was to gather constructive views and recommendations from various stakeholders in order to develop a comprehensive law that aligns with the needs of business owners and the country’s markets.
The meeting was officially opened by the Director General of the Ministry of Trade and Tourism, Eng. Mahmoud Hussein Adam (Jabaake).
In his remarks, the Director General emphasized “the importance of protecting the rights of trademark owners.”
The meeting was closed by the Minister of Trade and Tourism, Hon. Abdirahman Hassan Noor.
The Minister commended the participants for their active role and noted that the recommendations presented would be incorporated into the final revision of the law.
He further stressed:
The Trademark Law is a key pillar in safeguarding fair competition, and the Ministry is fully committed to finalizing this law in a manner that serves the national interest.

On 26 December 2025, the State of Israel formally recognized the Republic of Somaliland as a sovereign and independent state, following a high-level virtual meeting between H.E. President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro) and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During the discussions, the Prime Minister extended a formal invitation to President @Abdirahmanirro to undertake an official visit to the State of Israel to advance and formalize bilateral cooperation.
This historic act affirms Somaliland’s enduring statehood, validates its decades-long pursuit of lawful recognition, and marks its irreversible emergence onto the international stage as a legitimate, responsible, and peace-anchoring member of the community of nations.
