The English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill received Royal Assent last week, an important step forward for place-based approaches to social mobility. We were delighted to see our work mentioned several times during the passage of the Bill in the House of Lords.

Why do we keep advocating for more place-based policies? Our evidence shows regional disparity in the UK is limiting opportunity and limiting young people’s potential.   A new toolkit for policy-makers from @TheIFS mirrors this call to action.

70% of UK workers are in occupations involving tasks that AI could potentially perform or enhance. It's easy to see why AI ‘stealing’ jobs is a hot topic in the news. But AI also has the potential to increase opportunity and boost social mobility.

We’re currently exploring how young people become ‘NEET’ and, crucially, what support young people say they actually need to get back into education, work or training. As well as looking at benefit recipients to understand "stickiness" across different age groups.

Can AI help us to bridge the gap between innovation and inclusion? Last week we joined forces with Tony Blair Institute for Global Change @InstituteGC to explore AI and its risks and benefits for innovation, growth and social inclusion.
