Since I started SM Media six years ago, our coverage of Scottish football has in my opinion been unrivalled in terms of consistency and the reach of covering the leagues we have for so long. Heading into a new season, I have to be honest and say some things personally have meant I will have to scale some things back, especially in the early stages of the season. Usually our season previews are well received and people look forward to them but things in life is taking are taking a far bigger priority. I hope we can get back to a decent level of content and coverage in the next few weeks but also can’t promise we will be able to get back to level you deserve and I want to do. I ask you all to bear with me for a period of time and hopefully, our content and coverage will be back soon in some capacity. Thanks Scott

Huge result for England, Tuchel deserves a lot of credit for that. The red card was pivotal but England were much more impressive in their shape after that. There is quality in that side, very big victory.

This referee didn’t cover himself in glory during the Scotland vs Morocco game Having a similar type of performance here, he’s missed several bad tackles and VAR got him out of a hole with a penalty

💙 We can today announce the signing of goalkeeper Ivor Pandur on a four-year deal from Hull City, subject to international clearance. Pandur, who is currently with Croatia at the World Cup, played a key role for the Tigers last season as they gained promotion to the English Premier League. 👉 rng.rs/4vzTMJK

Sorry about the “hysterical commentary” back home, we just want our country to reach the next round and apologies if that means your pal gets questioned as to why this hasn’t happened. Honestly, the sooner this guy is removed from his post the better.

Steve Clarke took us to three major tournaments, he will rank highly for that and he does deserve a lot of credit for that achievement. That being said, the record in those three tournaments was really poor and it is the right time for Clarke to go. Whoever signed off on the four-year extension before the start of tournament needs to be leaving along with him. The turgid style of play, rotten attitude towards the media and the glory of just qualifying being enough outweighs the positives of Clarke’s time as manager for me but we can’t ignore his record. I’ve been off the view we need a fresh look and approach to our game, hopefully we cast the net wide for the next manager and try to push towards actually delivering in major tournaments instead of revelling in a “0-0 win” against England even though we didn’t get out the group. The entire SFA needs a good refresh, there are three people in that organisation at least who are holding us back, this should be a pivotal moment in terms of changing Scottish Football for the better but my fear is that we continue with the status quo.

Not every foreign coach is going to be Berti Vogts, that’s exactly the attitude to why the SFA haven’t explored it again. We need something different, we are going to tournaments and bombing out. The pool in Scotland for managers is so shallow, something different is certainly worth exploring if you can find the right person.

@SMMediaEnt Why simply pluck a foreign coach from out of the air, as if nationality has any bearing on competence? Do you remember how it went last time we picked a foreigner on the basis they always know better..?

That feels like that, Scotland never have things go their way when they have to rely on other favours. Almost 24 hours have passed, the one glaring is all four goals conceded in this tournament are comical from a Scotland perspective and you don’t deserve to go through if you allow quality opposition absolute gifts. The manager is an arrogant man who has little respect for the media and fans who are right to question his repeated failed approach in tournaments, he done well to get us here but giving him a four-year contact before the tournament even started was utter madness. We have to go for a foreign coach next, this group of players could show themselves well in the future with a different approach and we as a country need to move on with the times. Ian Wright nailed it last night with his words but Scotland are always behind the curve when it comes to modernising in every aspect of the game of football.
