@thameswater great customer service suggesting someone who is 8 months pregnant should go outside in the middle of a storm and lift a large heavy manhole cover because their representative doesn’t know if the meter services more than one flat to check bill issues 🙄

Hey @NHSEngland, @NHSScotland, and UK #Medtwitter Those UK doctors who moved to my Aussie ED realised we never had an Exit Interview. We never got to share some of the examples of NHS culture that drove us away. Perhaps we can inform you a little with some anecdotes? 🧵

@TheLeeMcLaren @MidoriOtoko1 Neither, the orthopaedic doctor at trauma handover also had no pelvic concerns. Pelvic had splayed equally so markers were equal, no pain in pelvis exam except some mild pain to sacrum. Patient has a massive head injury as was likely a distracting injury so couldn’t feel it

@SMarrphis @MidoriOtoko1 Ah that’s interesting! Was the poor identification down to just generally hard to diagnose or down to lack of education?

Would you apply a Pelvic Binder to a pt just in case? I’ve had a slightly heated debate with a Paramedic. I was told to apply a Pelvic Binding based on mechanism along. I thought the guidelines were to apply if there is a ? Open booked # and who are hemodynamically unstable?

@MidoriOtoko1 @TheLeeMcLaren Patient can and have walked with open book pelvic fractures. One of my patient did (pedestrian vs car) and was the reason my dissertation was on the subject. The evidence shows we are poor at identifying them and MOI gets a better capture rate, is cheap and non-invasive.

@TheLeeMcLaren Pelvic binder= haemorrhage control device No sign of haemorrhage = no binder Self extricated walking patients certainly shouldn't have pelvic binders applied.

@National_Merch I was given the wrong size hoodie at the @TheO2 Panic at the Disco show. I’ve emailed you twice with no response and @TheO2 saying it’s not their problem even tho it was their staff who made the mistake! Can I please get a response?!

Why are emergency services continuing to promote a for profit, proven highly fallible service in the emergency context, over OS Grid References which has an Open Government Licence and is much less at risk of human error?

People of healthcare/medicine - what’s your one body part that you just can’t deal with? For me it’s teeth and nails. No idea why but give me loose teeth after an injury or a nail that needs trephining and I go all pre-syncopal and jelly-legged. Nope. 🤢.

@somebodycallKT_ Honestly as long as you have snacks you’ll survive if you forget everything else! My last student used to get so hangry I would bring in snacks to give her so I’d cope as her mentor 😂

For some women, the most dangerous place is their own home. 56% of female homicide victims in 2021 were murdered by their intimate partner or a family member. Violence against women & girls can and must be prevented! Find out how: unwo.men/8oUT50LMAQa #16Days @UNODC

Tube on strike, I dawdled to Paddington on Friday. Passing the old wrought iron sign for Pizza Express, I was reminded of an event 30+ years ago, when I got caught up in a drama that resulted in a divorce, two marriages and many changed lives. It began with a heart attack 🧵

MPs have had 9 pay rises since 2010. Remind yourself of that when they complain about workers pushing for fair pay and working conditions.
