Ukrainian forces used ground robots in two separate front-line evacuations of elderly civilians in the Pokrovsk and Lyman areas, officials said May 2026. One operation used the UGV PBS Kraken 1654 alongside a boat and medical transport to evacuate four civilians, including a wounded woman. Ukraine’s military reported more than 9,000 uncrewed ground vehicle missions in March alone.

U.S. Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit boarded and redirected the Iranian-flagged tanker M/T Celestial Sea in the Gulf of Oman on May 20, according to CENTCOM. The vessel was suspected of attempting to evade a U.S. naval blockade that began April 12, during which U.S. forces have redirected 91 commercial ships and disabled four vessels.

Bradley said U.S. special operations forces need troops who are "both lethal but also technically fluent," calling for "PhDs who can win a bar fight." Interpol’s March 2026 Global Financial Fraud Threat Assessment said AI-enabled fraud is turning organized crime into large-scale operations that also fund terrorist groups and human trafficking networks. U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command said during Special Operations Forces Week in Tampa that it is testing the OA-1K Skyraider II’s ability to be rapidly disassembled, transported aboard C-5 and C-17 aircraft, and reassembled in the field within hours. The OA-1K, based on the Air Tractor AT-802, is designed for armed reconnaissance, close air support, and precision strikes, with AFSOC currently operating 18 aircraft while testing and training continue.
