Nearly 1 million workers in Great Britain reported stress in 2024–25, causing 22.1 million lost days. Much of this harm is preventable. Work-related stress often stems from poor design & management. As Stress Awareness Month approaches, employers must act to protect mental health

Yesterday's Covid‑19 Inquiry report found that extraordinary efforts by healthcare staff prevented the NHS from collapsing during the pandemic. Doctors and their colleagues carried this burden at immense personal cost. They worked in unsafe conditions, faced trauma and moral injury, as well as burnout that many are still living with today. The inquiry makes clear how close the system came to failure, and how reliant it was on staff going far beyond what should ever be expected. Read our full response 👉 bma.org.uk/news-and-opini…

Today at the UK Global Health Summit 2026 at the Royal College of Physicians, we held a great discussion on strengthening health systems through global partnerships. I shared Uganda’s experience on how partnerships have helped build resilient systems, including strengthening our laboratory capacity. I emphasized that effective partnerships must be built on mutual respect, enabling beneficiary countries to set their own priorities for sustainable and impactful health outcomes.

Global Health Partnerships (formerly THET)
The opening session didn't shy away from the big picture - exploring how financial and political turbulence is reshaping global health and development right now. Speakers laid out the urgent realities facing governments and partners amid a deepening crisis. But alongside the challenges came something just as important: a genuine sense of opportunity. Bold, coordinated action can still protect hard-won progress and open the door to new solutions. #UKGlobalHealthSummit #GlobalHealth
