The complexity of #Ebola response in #DRC demands close coordination across @UN system and humanitarian partners. Together with @UNReliefChief Tom Fletcher, I signed a joint letter to endorse the appointment of Julien Harneis (@julienmh) as a Senior Ebola Coordinator in Kinshasa.

I briefed partners in Dar es Salaam on the current situation and the ongoing response to the #Ebola disease outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo virus in the DR Congo. I’m grateful for the continued commitment of governments, the UN family and partners in standing with national authorities. Together, we are strengthening the response, protecting communities and working to bring this outbreak under control.

The challenge before us is not whether vaccines work; Africa has already answered that question. The challenge is whether we can ensure that their benefits reach everyone, everywhere, without exception. In my joint op-ed with H.E. @FirstLadyBio and H.E. @amma_twumamoah, we reflect on why sustainable immunization programmes must be anchored in national leadership, domestic investment, strong institutions and accountability to the populations they serve and why trust is fundamental to immunization success. Cancer is more than a diagnosis. It is the people behind it: the families, the journeys, the hope that keeps them going. At the Cancer Control Reality Lab at #ICPPA2026, we took a closer look at what cancer care really looks like across Africa, and what needs to change. Everyone deserves to be diagnosed early, treated with dignity, and supported every step of the way.

Had a productive meeting with Dr Gene Bukhman and Rachel Gasana of @NCDIpoverty on the sidelines of #ICPPA2026. We discussed opportunities to strengthen collaboration on #PENPlus and improve access to care for people living with severe NCDS. Our discussions focused on sustainable financing, health systems strengthening and approaches to expanding access to quality services for those most in need. @WHO greatly appreciates its partnership with the NCDI Poverty Network and its commitment to advancing equitable health outcomes across the African Region.
